Sierra Trek 2010 - Survey

You may need to register for the Cal 4 Wheel to get here but this is the survey:

Survey

This is the link to the thread:

Thread

And this is the text of Jeff's message and the survey:

Quote:

VERY IMPORTANT ISSUE- PLEASE READ AND

PARTICIPATE

Sierra Trek is our biggest fundraiser. We are in the midst of a very important issue and we need YOUR help to make a decision on where the next Trek event will be held. This decision will not please everyone, but this is YOUR Association and we will do our best to go with the majority consensus, as long as our budget will allow us to. Please answer these simple questions and respond, via email (or phone if necessary) to Jeff Blewett.

Ø Simple question; Cisco Grove or Meadow Lake for our next Trek?

Ø Why do you like Meadow Lake better?

Ø Why do you like Cisco Grove better?

Ø Will you plan on attending the next Trek no matter where it is held and support your Association?

Ø If not planning to attend, why not?

Ø Can you, or will you volunteer to make this event better, no matter where it is held? We need new and younger blood stepping up to help us grow in the next 50 years.

Ø Without committing to anything, what committee or committees would you be willing to work on?

Again, this is a very sensitive issue and we need your input, but this is not a forum to browbeat anyone so please keep personal agendas to yourself. We sincerely thank you for your expedient assistance and we look forward to hearing from everyone in our great State and our neighbors north, south and east of us. Please let us know your feelings ASAP.

Sincerely,

Jeff Blewett

2010 Sierra Trek Chair

Since I voted and commented here as well voting on the Cal board does my vote count twice?

Since there's no way to truly identify or relate the various pools of poll-takers or survey respondents, these should be treated as three different samples of the same larger sampling set...

Each is a meaningful sample, but connecting them isn't easily possible.

Frankly, hope we get good samples of folks who attended at Meadow, folks who attended at Cisco, and folks who have not yet attended... this event's primary purpose is to raise funds, and the best way to do that is to consider the potential tapped and untapped markets, then figure out where to aim, and then (only then) pull the trigger. Ready, aim, fire... in that order.

Randii,

Without question the more input the better. Actually I was unsure if I should comment on the Cal bb because I had already done so here and it seems redundant. Would it be helpful to post my comments over there as well? Happy to do so. I did the Cal bb survey and I like how I could give a little more detail rather than just “meadow or cisco”. I did ask this before but I did not get an answer back so maybe you can help. Where else has the M or C question been asked? And one more thing…does Cal have a list of required committees and a summary of what is required for each of them? A simple Trek committee guide if you will. It sure seems like it would help those people who may want to volunteer but are unsure where to even start.

Thanks!
Jeff

I agree Jeff, it would be nice to see a list of all the committee's.

I have attended some meetings and listened to the plans, and I'm not the architect, but I can comment on what I have heard.

I don't see a down-side to commenting on multiple BBS-es, even if it is the same content -- different BBS-es have different viewership and different conversations, and that's a GOOD thing (even if it feels redundant) ... just like sampling different groups is a GOOD thing. A diversity of opinions and samples will help Cal4Wheel decide who to market to... and how to market to them.

I'm not sure where all the Meadow vs. Cisco question has been asked, but I know at least on the Cal4Wheel and Pirate4x4 BBS, as well as to Cal4Wheel membership. There have been discussions about doing a phone tree survey to past participants at Meadow and Cisco, as well.

As for the list of committees... please drop a line to Jeff Blewett, he tracks that. A big part of his Chairman job is tracking/motivating volunteer leaders and their committees... a list like that would really help him fill the gaps in his team.

I have set back and have been reading all the different threads and now when a real commitment to act and say ( I will support ) it looks like a lot of commenter have disappeared. It is fine to say what you do not like and then step up and try to make a change. But to complain and then not step up to help make the change why say anything at all.

Glen, it is kinda tough to step up specifically until we know more about how or when to engage... I bet we'll find out tomorrow more about what committees are available.

I'm hoping folks will still step up when the time comes... in the meantime, there's this survey to complete, and one of the questions is how surveyed folks are willing to assist (with their email provided). I'm hoping that this helps connect volunteers with tasks, well in advance of the decision-making meeting.

Is this the location for volunteers to pledge their support for Trek 2010? I have not seen another venue to do so.

Jeff, I think an email to Jeff (event chair: sandraider at clearwire dot net) is probably the best way to confirm commitment, though attendance at meetings has been a past method, as well. I fully understand that not everyone can attend every meeting, so email should work -- Jeff may confirm.

Randii (how did we widn up with so many Jeffs?)

My understanding is that there have only been about one hundred responses to the sruvey. I'm bummed that there is so much opinion but so little apparent follow-through.

Folks, please respond if you have an opinion, remembering that life is often run by those who show up. You have an opportunity to weigh in -- there's no downside to responding to the survey...

Survey aside I’m surprised that there are not more post/opinions from the Trek participants on Cal BB.

The Cal4 BB is always pretty slow... many of the Cal4 members aren't very webby.

This is great opportunity for *US* to step up and be heard as volunteers and participants... I hope you all are making the most of it.
