Workin on it!
Pulled the front clip apart and started working on shock mounts. Got the lowers all mocked up and started work on the uppers. The location of the lower shock mounts was gonna get in the way of the lower control arm bolt so we decided to surround the bolt head with a tube, then build the shock mount from there. I wanted to make sure the tube was centered on the bolt head so we wouldn't have any issues getting it out, so I found a piece of tubing that would sleeve over the socket, and inside the shock mount tube, then assembled everything to tack it together. Also started work on the engine cage, but those pics will wait for later.

When you and John were talking about the lower shock mount i wasn't visualizing it. I see what a pain it was going to be now.
At the rate you going you should have it done today! ![]() The Jeep has come a long way. We are already set for the plumbing to be done. We just need to make a list of all of the fittings and approximate lengths of the hose so we can order the parts. All of the hose lines are machine terminated and we will be making a spare of each. Nice work!

Well, not done today, but made a lot of progress on the engine cage. So far everything in the car has been very symmetrical. This is where that ends. Obviously the engine isn't the same shape side to side, and the drivers side also has the brake booster and steering column to contend with. As a result the tubes ended up being quite different, but I think they came out pretty well.
I'll tell you what, trying to go from point A to point B with a firewall inbetween and actually put the hole in the right place isn't as easy as you might think ![]() I've also recruited my roommate Stephen for the last push to the finish. He's helped out on a lot of the past KOH builds, and now that he lives 20' from the shop it's even easier to sucker him into workin. Tonight while I was doin the last couple tubes up front he cut out a bunch of corner gussets for me to start finishing off the little details.

The only trick that has work for me is to drill a small hole and use string to make sure its in the right place, then follow up with a hole saw. Or use a laser pointer much like a piece of string.

Another day of front end work today. I'm getting really good at installing and removing the front clip. Got some shots of how the front shock mounts are coming together. The rules say you cant cut the inner fenders so I had to design something that would wrap around the stock sheetmetal. It's a close fit, but it works.
![]() With any luck it'll be back on it's tires and off to the exhaust shop tomorrow.

Dallas,
Make sure you can get the air cleaner place somewhere. The PS cooler may be in the way. G

LOL, John was here this weekend saying how Jeepspeeds always end up needing a mount like this too.

Got a package today containing our new power steering and tranny coolers from CBR. I gotta say these things are bad ass. Very compact, with a pair of 4" SPAL fans on each, and very well built. These are not some cheesy cooler designed for your motorhome that's for sure.
Also got a couple pics of the engine bay with the shock mounts finished, front clip back in place, and the air intake set in. Still have lots of room for the surge tank, PS cooler, and PS reservoir, as well as some more tube work to support everything.

The 2 middle bars of the engine cage tie into the dash where the center supports land, and there's also a diagonal going from the bottom of the V across the footwell to the bottom corner of the A-Pillar on the passenger side. This wasn't really feasible on the drivers side because of the steering column and pedals.
