Maybe it's the camera angle or perspective, but it looks like the vertical A-pillar bar isn't quite perpendicular to the chassis or parallel to the B pillar. Am I correct?
Digging the build, just an observation.

It's not camera angle or perspective. It does angle back to connect with the frame tie-in. In most cars that bar just connects to the door bar or a horizontal tube going from A-pillar to B-pillar at the floor. This one goes all the way to the frame.
Aesthetically I'm still a little unsure how I feel about it. Structurally it makes me

Logically it totally makes sense but when you look at it you think "shouldn't/wouldn't that look better straight down?"
I think I would have brought is straight down and angle the lower bar. No big deal either way.

I'm in agreement. I just hung a plumb bob on the roof and I'd only have to move the tube about 2" to get it vertical. I wish I hadn't welded the tube as much as I already have, but it's coming out anyways. Last night I looked at it and didn't really like it a lot. I hoped it would grow on me, it hasn't.

Glad you are going to change it! It'll make the window nets easier to fit as well.Quote:

Yep, they will be a big rectangle now. I think the way the rules are written we will need little triangular nets for the area forward of that tube though. Not sure if Ultra4 rules allow it, but I noticed BJ Baldwin actually has little lexan windows there on his TT. That would be cool.

All Fixed. Also got a shot of how the seat fits with the B-pillar. As you can see there is plenty of space. A couple of the desert race orgs require you to have 2 double-d adjusters on your shoulder belts. I dont know if we'll be racing with any of them, but if we decide to we shouldn't have any problems.
Also in case anyone hasn't seen them and was wondering about the ratcheting belts I mentioned here's a closeup of the business end. Instead of pulling on the ends of straps at awkward angles you just ratchet yourself in place.

I could, but then it wouldn't line up with the spreader in the roof.

Just took another look at that pic I just posted. Now there is a camera angle thing happening. In that pic it still looks like it's angled, but it's not. Heres a better angle.

hey just a dumb question from the cheap seats but what the deal with the windshield frame? Do you have to have it for the rule book?

And you only need nets in the front area if your hands can fly out of with the nets up.

Today was a good day for the brown truck. Got some pieces from Savvy Offroad and King shocks.
Also got a visit from one of santa's little helpers last night. was kind enough to swing by Mastercraft and pick up our new Pro4 seats, and thankfully my seat mount wasn't far off at all. As I said before, seats are always a challenge to mount, and using one seat to build from, when you'll be using another can make that worse. The fact that the 2 seats, built more than 2 years apart were so close in mounting dimensions that all I had to do was slightly ream one hole says a lot about the attention to detail and QC that Mastercraft puts into these seats.
