Well went up on sunday and got some good work done.
Got alot of the front end welded up. still have to box in the brackets and make my own steering arms/ ram mount. I picked up a surplus city 8in stroke double ended hydro ram for 100 bucks. Here are the pics of what i got done so far. if i slapped the unit bearings on it, it would be a roller. rear end is sittin on some small rollers.

Is that bump pad gusseted underneath? I'd hate to see it bend after a few good hits.

I get it Justin.. My issue is, all these people say you can't do it for 10k.. While I think you can... Bartering, sponsoring, and other parts deals can be had. I bet it will be done. We need to talk about sponsorship bro... It won't be "free", but I can get you any lubricants you need at my cost, happily Kickin ass and takin names!Scott

Well some good progress was made yesterday!!! She became a roller. Finished up boxing in the link brackets and shock mounts. Braced the bottom of the bump pads, and all thats left on the front end is build some steering arms, make a ram mount and caliper mounts!
Might be going up sometime this week since im not working and put in some hours during the week and try to fab up my steering arms and get them welded on. Had my dad come up with me and he started puttin on the accessories on the front of the motor. I just got my wiring harness and computer so that can start goin on when im ready! Makin some good progress too

Well been workin hard on the buggy.
Got all the front accessories on the motor with belt hooked up. Finished boxing in the steering arms, got the ram mounted and tierods made. I ground down the rail of the NP205 and twin sticked it. Made a tcase mount. Still have the crappy rollers on it. Been trying to get some rims and tires!!! I reused the old poly bushings that the previous owner left on a cross member as my tcase mount. I plan on adding something else to the back of the tcase on another poly mount. Ive see a few guys break the adapters from all the weight hanging off the back. Ill be working on some seat mounts will be next weekend. Also adding in some more tube to help triangulate areas that are lacking, and Possibly start building floor boards! Got it sitting on a full set of springs. right now i have bout 8in up travel front and back and its sitting roughly 5'8" from the ground to the top of the chassis. That is just bare now. Im hoping for 7in up and 7in down. Def need a different set of rear springs. Just used some that Kurtis had layin around the shop, they are 200s/400s. i want 200/300 or 150/250. Ive been kickin around the idea of puttin a sway bar on it for a future upgrade. Well heres the pics. Edit: Budget is right around 8gs right now. cuttin it close... Still if i make it under 15gs thats a killer deal. I havent been working so progress has been slow. Trying to build as much as i can instead of buying things.

Its for sale now. i need the money. kinda in a rough place and cant keep it. No for sale thread yet, dont have a computer to use. Ive done alot more work since the last update. i have a good chunk of parts that go with the car. Any intrest pm me. Its at my parents house in the garage so if you want to look at it let me know. As for right now the orbital, rear springs, and mockup tranny dont go with the car (they arent mine), neither do rear coilovers and rear bumps. i do have another th400 complete that i bought when i got the np205 (came out of same truck). You get it just how it sits, with wiring harness with computer thats already been flashed and tuned. (No switch panel), brake pedal ass., 32gallon fuel tank, the fuel lines that came with the car, steering wheel, 8in ram, fully built LT1 (never started it since rebuild), headers, NP205 already twin sticked, skids, gauges, window nets, stock 14b rear shafts and third memeber, brand new 8lug unit bearings, Misc stuff i cant think of right now. Pretty much a badass start to the buggy. Asking 8000. its a really good deal for someone to jump on.

First off, I hope everything is ok. Secondly, What the hell, I was looking forward to a ride in that thing. This is going to be a great deal for someone, I personally have seen how much time and hard work have gone into this thing. Not to mention the badass parts. Good luck on the sale if there's anything I can do to help, you have my number.

Its a lot harder to build a low budget rig than most poeple think. I was really hoping to see Justin complete this thing within the budget that he set for himself, but I know from experience it was going to be close to impossible (especially building it so far from home).
Knowing Justin and his Dad, I'm sure this isn't the end of their Ultra4 dream..... just the end of this chapter... Sell it, move one, start over, repeat... FYI, I raced KOH this year on less than 10K, but Any7Offroad build my chassis for me, so that saved me 7-10K in its own. We are a really low budget team, but a car from nothing to race trim for 10K is close to impossible without big sponsors, and a lot of garage time. It can be done, but its not for the average guy.... Its hard work being this cheap

Man, just read the whole thread. You do some really good work for being 22. I wish I was at that level when I was 22. I hate to hear you're selling your dream, and hope all is well. I hope to see you back at it in the near future! Please keep us posted with what you are buuilding, Im sure it will be exciting.

It is so hard to build a cheap rig I was trying to keep mine under ten and I already have 12500 into it and have 400 in fitting to go. koh 2014 if I can but have a daughter onthe way so that dream may not happen. I under stand how hard it is to spend every penny one your build. I eat 2.29 meals at t- bell so I can buy more parts. Plus you live so far away for your build. Atleast I can shut my shop doors an for get about it.
I was pullin for you

I want the front shocks. I'm going to Shasta tomorrow, I'll swing by Sunday to talk. You can try to sell my orbital to put towards the shocks if you want
