This winch is ok! It's cheap.

As far as I know it's a Warn copy.
Know a few guy's using this winch, and none have complained.

They are made in Tiawan. Little bit bigger market in Europe than over here though. I saw them about 2 months ago but ended up passing, not to mention, I think the only way to get one is to have it imported. No US dealer network...

Warn gets their winches built just as cheaply as these guys, it's just that they like to make a little money for their effort and let a few dealers make some as well.

As in the electronics components industry, guys like these will give us cheaper winches, but Warn will go by the wayside as will most of the dealers, and all the jobs and money go overseas.

Warn probably had some of their shiat made in China or had it quoted there. China could not design a winch, but can copy the hell oughta anything.

I would like a free winch too, but if you can afford it, we are all better off if you buy American.

And if you see me with one of these, I was just checking out the competition, NOTHING MORE!!

Thanks. If I ever get time, I would like to do a complete chart comparing all winches we would use from 8k up to 12k.

The chart makes it VERY easy to compare specifications among winches at a glance. Obviously the remaining problem with these "off-brand" winches is the chart can't tell you just how reliable they will be.

General Electric Winches

There are several winches being marketed out there as different makes but they all seem to stem from the same chinese manufacturer.

As I understand it they're a third world Ramsey Rep winch which have slight changes made to them and then sold back to the US & Europe by whoever wants to buy them.
The first copies were exactly like the regular Rep 8000s, same knob on the free spool & sme hex bolts on the chrome bars across the top.

Look at the new Mile Marker electric winch you'll notice more than just a passing resemblance.

Come up apparently was an accidental name. The importer wrote to the Chinese telling them something like "hold the packaging until we come up with a name for the winch"
And so the winch was made, boxed and labled "come up"
