IH used a divorced D24 that looks a lot like a D20. There is also a Divorced version of the Bronco D20.

Divorced Dana 20 could be found in early datsun 4x4 pick ups. I beleive they were shipped two wheel drive from Japan then converted to 4x4 when they got here. The few I have seen have had Dana 30's up front and the divorced Dana 20 transfercase.

The d20 and the d24 are two different boxes I found while hunting through a drunk yard yesterday. After playing with heeps for 20+ years, I thought I had seen most of the boxes out there. The D20 was something I have been looking at making for a sammi heep I have planned. That way, I can just drop in a rotary and not have to swap trans and clutch junk around. After lifting the d24 out to look at it, I would not want it. It is 2/3 the weight of a D205 and looks to have about the same size shafts as the D20.

I think the dana 20 transfer case used n the datsun/nissan trucks was called the t100a. It had a 2.01:1 low range. Does anybody think that crawler gears and other aftermarket items interchange with this case?

from the one I found it looks like its all standard D20 guts,, thats why I was wundering what a d24 was ,,, can I swap this d24 guts into the d20 case for a better retio?
this d20 just has some crappy sheet metal mounts so I still might look at making a new input shaft and nose cone for a standard D20 just so I can use it for part of the mounting. I`m also thinking about doing a cold duck type of thang but making it divorced for the sammi`s ,,,, I think for a 2.500 lbs rig it would hold up fine and that way you can dump what ever one wants in front of it ,,,, |
