rebuilding a tc pump
Last weekend on the con my front seal behind the pulley started leaking bad. I called and its a hundred to rebuild it or I can get the seal kit for 20. Has anyone ever rebuilt one. I never rebuilt a pump before. If anyone has any tips or pics please let me know. Not sure how to get the retainer clip off the back too. Thx for any help rob

pull the pump off the engine
pull the pully off the pump put a large socket over the pump shaft put pump and shcket in a vice use another small socket between the back plate and vice jaw squeze the pump slightly to relieve the pressure off of the retianing ring push ring out with a seal pick (2 might be needed one pushing through the hole and one to hook and pull the ring out) renove pump from vice use a soft face hammer to tap the pump shaft (taping the pump guts out the hole the back plate sits in) stack every thing as it comes out remove all seals and O rings clean all the pump guts and crap put the seals and o rings back in lube the seals and o rings put the pump shaft back in with out the cam pack ring or vanes put the 2 alignment pins in put the cam pack ring on (or in) put the vanes in lube the rotor/vanes put the pressure plate and spring and back plate (depending on what tc you have) apply pressure to the pump body and back plate (to compress the pressure plate spring) ( vice and sockets) reinstall the retianing ring put the pump/and pully back on your shit
