Thumbs up Product review teaser: Pitbull Mad Dog tires

I just got my hands on the Mad Dog tires yesterday morning. Almost like a birthday present.

My first impression is that they look a lot different than I was expecting. The pictures on Pitbull's website do not do this tire justice.

Notice the beefy sidewall protection.

The tread

And a side by side comparison shot of the 35 x 14.50 Pitbull Mad Dogs with 33 x 12.50 Goodyear Wrangler AT/S

Stay tuned for a full write up.

I hate to pee on your parade, but the tread pattern looks like it was designed by a toddler with a set of blocks and elmer's glue.

This is just an observasions, but there are a lot of open spaces, big enough to fit a loonie. Or, if you are american, a tad bigger than a quarter. The sides resemble mini-bigges, and the middle almost looks incomplete with all those voids. I bet they will hook-up good.

I thought that too the first time I saw a picture.

The Mad Dogs are supposed to be a mud tire, we've got plenty of mud here in Alberta so they'll be put to the test. The tread pattern is different but I'm not going to make any judgements on how well they work until I get them out there slinging some goo.

I'd love to see a shot of them mounted side by side with a mounted 35x12.5 tire

looks like a bogger, with a double row of lugs inserted between the bar lugs. Should work pretty well.

Here are a couple of pictures of the tires on the truck, mounted on 15x8 black Rock Crawlers.

For some reason it cracks me up that you're going to *test* them on an Exploder.

While I also hate the little stars, I really like how every other outer lug is siped. I wonder how that will affect traction. I expect it will help reduce on road noise and enhance wet traction, especially at speed.

If I ignore the stars, they look like mtrs without the goofy balloon look.

Everybody knows that looks and not performance is the most important factor in tires!

You'll like them, they work real good. Just waiting for something a little skinnier, but I'm still running mine.

Looks good Paul. Judging by the water marks on the tires you need to let some air out

These tires like beadlocks. to get em to work you have to air way down, and then you start losin beads. When aired way down they are pretty damn impressive

They are a 28 psi right now and bulge quite a bit, I still have to fine tune the air pressure. The reason for the 15x8s is because I was expecting to have some weld on beadlock rings and since I don't have them yet I want to still be able to air down to single digits without losing a bead. And I don't want to add beadlock rings to a 10" wheel.

Local guy has a set of Pitbull tires and walked one completely off the rim during a hill climb. I couldn't believe it when he grabbed the tire and remounted it on the rim by hand. Beads seemed a little loose

If you think the beads are a little loose you havn't mounted a set for yourself, I did about 2 weeks ago(just got my first growlers) I have had steel belted rads that i could almost spin on with just tire snot clamped in the machine.
Not these! it was the full show with 3 tire irons.
