posted this on jeep board, but thought i can run it by the General board public. disregard all jeep specific info, just let me know if you've dealt with any reman engine manifacturers, which are good and which to stay away from.

here's the original post:

my friend's 87 Jeep YJ's I-6 engine is on it's last leg. it didn't pass smog and leaks oil, etc.
i was researching a little about swaps and/or reman engines, and it looks like reman engine would be a cheaper way to go. i think we'll keep the carb, so only the engine/exaust/carb will be replaced.
i found these companies that sell reman engines:
http://www.unitedengine.net/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=UE&Category_Code=AMJ
http://remanufactured-engines.com/20 AMC Jeep.htm
http://www.powerpro2000.com/lb_amc.htm

anyone dealt with these companies, or has any other recomendations?

PS. total swap is not an option, as we have to get it running really fast, so swapping the block seems the way to go.
