I'm trying to get a ruff estimate on a HP 44 with flat top knuckles on it. I've found a guy that has one for sale and is asking $250 for it. Its complete minus the brake calipers.
Ford flat tops and chevy/jeep flat tops are not the same. The ford uses a larger register and a 5 bolt spindle so to get someone to machine them for an arm is not as easy as the others. Is it 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton.
most HPs are fords, but most flat tops are chevys.....either way i'd say 250 is a decent price. The pick-n-pull in town charges at least $150 for just the flat top knuckles off a chevy
Ahhhh, that makes me feel even better about the complete D44 w/flat tops I picked up for $80 recently
But really, many want $250 just for a 44 without flat knuckles and HP(and usually without other things too)that's not a bad deal at all if its HP/Flat.:smokin:
to mill & drill the knuckle, you must first grab it in a vise. The bottom ball joint is a piss-poor thing to grab in a vise, so you machine a plate that bolts to the spindle flange and grab THAT. Then you can tilt the head and make chips.
Why not just bolt it to a large piece of angle and bolt that to your mill table. That's how I'm doing it. No sense in having too many points for it to wiggle and vibrate.
Easy
