TTC 2012: Champion's Cup

How awesome would it be if Four Wheeler Magazine invited out all the past winners of TTC to compete in 2012, during the event's 20th year reunion?

Some probably wouldn't be able to make it happen, but I bet we could get at least 12 of them to come back and battle it out. Maybe it would motivate some to build new rigs specifically for the event.

Let's see, these are the past winners:

2009- Dave Green
2008- Claton Kraatz & Jeremy Naeger
2007-Matt Thorson
2006-Brent Burton
2005-Jerry Duffy
2004-Brad Austin
2003-Toby Harrell
2002-John Reynolds
2001-Brian Waddell
2000-Sam Patton
1999-Grady McLeod
1998-Heath Biggs
1997-Geby Wager
1996-Shannon Campbell
1995-Randy Ellis
1994-Anthony Fox
1993-Jim Piatt

Thoughts or suggestions?

As long as they don't have to compete with the rig that they won in, it would probably be possible. Here is a suggestion for you.... you could find out how many people could make it to the competition and then get one of the offroad companies to donate the use of that many vehicles that are exactly the same! Then it would become more of a driver's competition instead of comparing completely new vehicles, old competition rigs, and basically what would be considered a stocker these days from the first TTCs. This would even the playing field for those that can't afford to build a completely custom rig with today's modern technology also.
What do you think about this idea Robin?

That implies I am not....had no idea you knew my every move

point is he brought up a TTC showdown of past winners
you suggest a far out different thing, not in itself a bad thing, just has nothing to do with this post

A TDC(Top DRIVER challenge) would be cool too, but I like TTC for the trucks.......I'm not much of a people person

I think it would be amazing!

Let them bring what ever rig they want.
The old one they competed with, or the newest most bad ass up to date rig they can possibly build/afford.

It would be the driver invited this time instead of the rig.

Best to start with something like this and drop a 572 in it.
Check out the drive lines

HA HA! That is a cool rig. You're right, the drive lines cinch the deal! No reserve??? Come on, the tires alone are worth way more than the starting bid.

how about go back through ALL of the competitors and Alternates from the last 20 years to get your top 50 and then let everyone vote like normal or maybe the editors pick or you can only vote online.. something different than the regular system. There will be some who cant be contacted, dont have trucks, etc, so if you say 10 people from each of the 20 years, that is about the number of entries that are normally submitted anyway.

While we are making suggestions, get rid of the 5-6 foot deep water holes, always has been and always will be stupid. No one wheels in water, it ruins equipment and takes no skill to drive your truck through a big water hole.

Get rid of the mud covered telephone poles, dont know anyone who wheels on them either. Maybe do a winch challenge race instead like the Aussies do. Give some points for engineering and design and performance type stuff, not like the old days, but something. It is a competition after all.

Stover.....

I think that would be awesome! It would bring some major competition in.

I like the idea of all past competitors and let them get voted in. That way you guys can still sell all the mags for the voting and the readers would have a higher interest in watching who they voted for. Not to mention I would get to be in the running!

But....I think having the winner of all the winners would be cool as well. Either way I will be there to watch or help out!

TOP TRUCK CHALLENGE: 20th Anniversary

This is a great idea I'm glad someone finally addressed this. I have been thinking of something like this for a few years now and just never thought anyone would be interested in this kind of post, but I was wrong. I think Four Wheeler should get in contact with the past winners and go from there. Invite them to the Top Truck Challenge 2012 and those that aren't interested just get replaced by the runners up or we the readers can vote in replacements. Then the magazine can do a write up of the competitors and the 20th Anniversary Challenge itself. Hell maybe they could even put together a package of all Top Truck DVDs to sell or extras in the DVD release of the 20th Anniversary.

As for the events I think they should leave that alone. Maybe they should add a new event or ask the readers to summit ideas for the design of the new event that would be something new and interesting.

This challenge is great and it just puts things in perspective. You take 10 competitors and toss them into different events that may or may not be suited for each rig and watch them surprise every year. I look forward to hopefully someday being able to compete in Top Truck till then I'll keep collecting parts and designing my rig and watching all of you make this event what it is today.

I look forward to the future of Top Truck and the upcoming anniversary ideas. Congratulations to all that competed this year and to the winner Dave Green.

That might be a TTC I'd actually pay attention to!

I'd Start with your number 1's and dip into the top 3 from each event to fill spaces or for alternates. You could fill the mags up with what the drivers have been doing since winning/competing in TTC.
