Help Rebuild the Land Use Buggy 4405

We are all floored by today's news of the tragic fire that destroyed the famous 4405 Land Use Race Buggy.

/forum/general-4x4-discussion/891108-4405-mfs-land-use-buggy-burns-ground.html

Travis and Trout are completely devastated, and are too proud to accept help. But we need this buggy back on the trail and track, because the message is too important.

Many of you have expressed a desire to donate, parts and funds to help put this icon back on the trail and back on the Ultra 4 circuit, where the message about Land Use, responsible recreation and the importance of being involved can continue to be brought to the masses.

The attention it has brought to Land Use has been phenomenal, and has had measurable effect in saving our trails. It's been to both Friends of the Rubicon and Friends of El Dorado Work Parties, Schools, Conventions, Parades, and in Magazines, spreading the word about Land Use and being ambassadors for our Sport. It has brought nearly $20,000 in donations to Blue Ribbon Coalition (just from the last KOH event), and it helps to generate memberships to the Friends of Groups and Local Associations.

We had so many plans to continue to spread the word.

Kurt, MFS and I, along with the help of our Friends and Land Use Advocates on Pirate 4X4, can surely pull this off with your help.

MFS has a paypal account rebuild4405@mfs-ca.com, where if you would like to make a donation to help rebuild the Land Use Buggy you can. It will be solely used for that purpose.(Make sure you put "for the 4405" in the notes) No donation is too small, $5 or $10 bucks will help.

If you want to donate parts, you can contact me at bebehumr at gmail dot com, and I will track the donated parts and create a 'registry' for parts.

The message of Keep Public Lands Open to the Public must continue.

Here is a video donated by Heavy Metal Concepts, that Communicates the passion we all have for this vehicle better than I could:

Please help us spread the word on facebook, twitter etc.

Thanks,

Kurt, Eric, Jeff and Bebe

(Travis and Trout too, though they don't know about this...yet)

Good on you. I was waiting to hear back, I'll be sending as soon as this job clears. Hopefully the guys realize we just want to help since they've done so much to help the sport.

Well don't rope me into this, I built the thing but it is Travs loss. Many years ago it was a hobbie that became a life style.Though I get burned out once and awhile i always come back to it.It becomes part of us. I am back on the drawing board for a better land-use rig and will now be able to change the things that always bugged me about this car. Thank you for your support of Travis and the land-use rig.

Just sent $100, make sure you guys put it to good use, even if that's drinking a few cold ones while drawing out the new buggy

I posted this on the other thread but I don't want Dan & Travis to miss this

Hey Guys, I am terribly sorry to hear about this...Its beyond suck...

However, time to start with a clean slate, think renewal! This isn't the end of the world. And you guys have done alot for me over the years, from Trout machining our covers flat to Stephy modeling for us to great ideas for new parts and even Trout making Garett a better TIG welder with his tips and hints. Time for a little payback!

I want to see you guys at KOH next February and so do most of the rest here. I like the idea of the donation pool but to really get you going I would like to give you a set of Axle Housings and Hubs if you will take them...If you want to wait a little while for the Sixty9 I would make it those housings and I might even be able to talk Jason into a great deal on the thirds...

Give me a yell...

BTW, I like the idea of an independant front & rear also!

Travis I never installed your new ford racing valve covers that you generously donated to me. They are yours if you go with a SBF again. Wish I hadn't just sold off my spare 351w roller... I don't really have much for spares. But when things calm down get us a plan of where you want to go and let us help you get up and running again.

x2--couldn't have said it better myself.
In for $100. Thanks for all you do for giving Land Use a great image.

...even if it is that watery Coors Light stuff that Kurt drinks.

I dont really have a whole lot to give, but you can count me in for a couple extinguisher mounts, and an atlas mockup for the buildup if you want it. If you end up using 9"s I can throw in a mockup for that as well.
