I have a rear mounted winch. I use it more than my front. Like above, it gets used mostly to help or recover others. Unlike above, I like to assist or recover less set up or broken rigs. If no one breaks, gets stuck or has trouble, than it ends up being a non exciting day and that is not nearly as fun as giving someone (buddy or stranger) a hard time for lacking.

I think they're great to have. On a tight nasty trail, I always get to go first so I can wait at the top to recover others. I tie the front winch to a tree kick on the high idle and start winching.

I'm a pussy aside from Jeep recovery I use my rear winch for those nasty muddy down hills when I am convinced I would end over. And by the way not a rover,much better a Scout
