the axles are pretty run of the mill spec for over here in the uk,
24 spline ARB lockers in each axle with shafts & cv's from rovingtracks in the front & a pair of GKN HD shafts in the back,

took it out to compete with the local club at a trial (cone dodging) on the 1st april

performed faultlessly all day & im really pleased with how its going with the new allisport goodies fitted www.allisport.com (charge cooler system & 5 branch exhaust manifold)

Some how, i ended up being first in class & first modified with also the lowest total score on the day, dunno how that happened considering mine was the biggest vehicle there
some pictures we took

Now that there is a proper old school off road motor.

No 40 inch tyres, no 14 inches of suspension travel, no Kings (brah?) or any other complicated or expensive bits.
A simple truck which has its limitations, and indeed absolute capability defined by the skill of the driver.

As an aside, it's always nice to win when you go out trialing.

The million dollar question though?
Is that charge cooler giving a better responce to the throttle than the old intercooler?

right, best bring this thread up to date for anyone thats interested,

we took part in King of the Valleys which im sure you have read about on here, but if not

king of the Valleys 2012

well we came we saw we did our best which resulted in an 8th Oa finish which resulted in us qualifying for KOV 2013,

things we knew we needed to improve on was Steering & drive train, plus a little bit of steering geometry thrown in for good measure,

So after a fair bit of discussion we now have
Discovery 2 axles under it to help increase our track & correct our scrub radius, the only downside to this is it then ment new wheels & tyres

New fox coilovers in 14" flavour with reserviors (previous coilovers were only emulsion) supplied by Downsouth Motorsports,

Set of 16" maxxis Trapador Comp stickys

Psc full hydro steer kit Supplied by Letzroll Offroad

have regeared from 3.54 to 4.11 which are fully overhauled & pegged By v8megasquirt.co.uk

in between times we had a small trip out to KOH with the Letzroll team where we had an awesome week & i cant really thank the guys enough for helping us out & looking after us,

I also have to thank simon saines for making sure we were ok whilst out in johnson valley

anyhow

pictures i hear you cry..........

KOV12

winter rebuild

will post more pictures as we go & get the suspension finished & the axles all sorted underneath it

at the moment in the uk, the treps are the only tyre that is readily available on the market,

simex are approx $500 a tyre & creepys are only really available on the 2nd hand market,

so far since sunday ive managed to get all the old shock mounts cut off & cleaned up & all the new mounts fitted,

now i bet your thinking "that doesnt sound too hard?" the new shocks are 14" travel instead of the previous 12" travel shocks, & thus are 3" longer than before

so had major issues on the front trying to get a quart into a pint pot, need to modify the skid plate as the front prop hits that, but we got there in the end & we now have 14" of travel on the front,

on the rear it was a bit more of a faff as the rear axle is about 1" further back than before, that throws another dimension into the mix,

any how....

we have some pictures

front fully built up

rear in progress

blank canvas

Time for an update

well first off continuing on from the previous updates, in preperation for King of the Valleys we fitted a PSC full hydro steer kit to the D2 axles

plus we changed out our lower rear links from the originals we have used since we built it, to a pair of T6 alloy links with ruffstuff heims,

some video of a little bit of testing we did prior to the final event prep

we then took part in king of the valleys 2013,

some pictures from over the weekend

passing tech inspection, this year all vehicles competing were weighed to gather information on cage specs, the buggy came in at 2075kg without myself or codriver

ready to start our first run

our first run was cut short as a car infront of us had rolled hard & the driver was medivac'ed out suffering a back injury,

for the 4 miles we had managed to go we had buckled a front wheel so had to fit the spare for our first proper lap,

to which we ran into some issue on the final few miles,
managed to loose a wheel about 1 mile from the finish,

which left us with a dilema of needing to find 20 wheel nuts to replace the ones we had been using which were working loose

winched a tree down onto the car

And some video of us coming up the final obstical named "the wall"

King Of The Valleys #1 - YouTube

the aux drivebelt was on its last legs & the front crank pulley/ harmonic damper had disintegrated, still made easy work of the final obstacle before heading across the line

after a weekend of tough racing & some issues & dramas we were pleased to finish in 7th overall, 2nd placed diesel, & highest placed vehicle on Landrover axles,

We couldnt have achieved this result if it wasnt for the rest of the team helping us & keeping the buggy running,

Now looking to the future & into 2014,

If you havent seen or heard

ESAB Announces Title Sponsorship Of LetzRoll Offroad Racing For 2014 Racing Season

It all starts with the welder - YouTube

2014 is gonna be awesome

our current plans for the buggy is shock tuning first & foremost, followed by fine tuning & making it faster / stronger

Cant wait
