Bling bling camo I like it you going to have the whole rig drab green except for that?

No bearing retainer bolts on the cover though . . . hope that RandP holds up to camo . . . or maybe you are holding out for the milled 300M parts

Do you have the new cover with the integrated oil slinger....or do you have the oldskool one?

I'm not sure how many people have the new cover. I can snap a pic of mine tomorrow if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Why the extra cash for the gundrilled axles? Just trying to save some weight?

Whats the chance these babies may go into production?

Maybe paint the inside of the "0" red for all the PBBers drooling over this thing.

just out of morbid curiosity, how much does gun-drilling a shaft run? (or has someone asked this aready and I'm a dumbass)

I believe somewhere back in this thread it stated that gundrilling ran around $100 and had to be done before the axle was hardened.

Now that I've saved the 12k in axle cost that leaves me enuff $ to buy 80 more complete rear axles for spares

question, camo: i read the first 40 or so posts, and then the last 15 or so, and skipped much of this thread.. BUT

why a 60?

6k+ will get you one hell of a custom axle, and when you lop the profit off it, you could build something similar to avalanches custom's or portals..

couldnt you build a mog axle for this much cash? or even rockwells? (if you could deal wiht the weight...)...

not trying to diss you or anything, i just never saw the logic in spending 6k for what was essentially a rebuild junkyard axle with disk brakes at dynabux. what you are doing looks really slick and all, but whats the reasoning behind starting with a 60 as opposed to a nine or something more.. exotic?

it all starts out so simple. then you get carried away.

i wanted to acheive several things.

1. bomb broof
2. good clearance from the bottom of the pig and drive shaft.
3. i wanted to develop tech and push the envelope.

sure i could have built other things but i like 60's. it is currently the standard for hardcore wheeling and i wanted to help develope aftermarkert parts for 60's.

by pushing the envelop i hope more and more compinies develope aftermarket parts for 60's and hopefully the price on some of this stuff will drop.

a perfect example of this is the 300m stub shaft and inner axle yoke. i went to jack at ctm and we worked on it together. he built the parts and i let the world know of them. since then he has already built many sets for some of the top contenders in RCAA. hopefully this will provke some of the big axle builders to develop some alloy shafts that the masses can afford and everybody will benifit.

good enuff for me! looks awesome..

i know theres a huge aftermarket for 9's and the stregnth on a built nine compares with a 60, and in some cases can be stronger..... but i would like to see the aftermarket grow for 60's as well.

i chose a 60 cuz i could yank it out from under a chebby, bolt it into my jeep, and go

my main reason for not going 9" was.

one i like 60's

but more importantaly i insisted on high pinions and i could not get a straight answer on when or if ever the rc 9' gear would be done and i was not going to use a 8.8 gear.

secondly even thought arb will soon have or maybe they do now. a 35 spline 9" it didn't look as promising to get a 40 spline arb built.

arb engineers said a 40 spline arb would not work but we knew it would. so that was a major factor.

i did like the fact that i could have built a really cool fabricated 9" housing from cro-mo. but oh well
