I've heard nothing, a friend e-mailed me the link I posted here

What's 99%????

A Message From Occupied Wall Street (Day Six)

Published 2011-09-23 07:30:16 UTC
by

OccupyWallSt

This is the sixth communiqué from the 99 percent. We are occupying Wall Street.

On September 22nd, 2011, sixteen cities from around the country and
the world stood in solidarity with us, protesting the disparity of power
and wealth that exists in our society. In Liberty Square, no such
disparity exists. Everyone's needs are taken care for, food, medicine,
water. The only need, the only right, that we cannot take care of is
shelter, though this is not our choice. Mayor Bloomberg said that he
would give us a space to protest but at every moment he attempts to
erode us. He uses absurd police tactics – arresting protesters for using
chalk on sidewalks, for wearing masks on the back of their heads in violation of a law that is a century and a half old, for... what, exactly?
He uses the tactics of media suppression only available to a
billionaire with a media empire. It has not worked. It will not work. We
are growing. Each day more cities join us. Each day our movement grows.
We demand real change. We will see it.

As organized by our labor working group and outreach working group, we stood in solidarity with Teamsters local 814 and picketed Sotheby's.
We are joined and will act in solidarity with the Professional Staff
Congress, a union of 20,000 employees from the City University of New
York.

As always, our General assembly and work groups kept busy maintaining and securing our space and our freedoms.

Tonight we were joined by a protest against the for-profit legal lynching
of Troy Davis. We are all Troy Davis. If Troy Davis had been a member
of the 1% he would still be alive. Together we numbered nearly a
thousand strong and marched on Wall Street.
The police arrested six of us and attempted to incite violence by
splitting the march and boxing in protesters, in spite of this, we
remained true to our principles of nonviolence. After the police
arrested our members we marched on their First Precinct as phone calls
from supporters flooded in, urging the police to release the jailed
peaceful protesters.

We are unions, students, teachers, veterans, first responders,
families, the unemployed and underemployed. We are all races, sexes and
creeds. We are the majority. We are the 99 percent. And we will no
longer be silent.

As members of the 99 percent, we occupy Wall Street as a symbolic
gesture of our discontent with the current economic and political
climate and as an example of a better world to come. Therefore we
invite the public, our fellow 99 percent, to join us in a march on
SATURDAY AT NOON, starting from LIBERTY SQUARE (ZUCCOTTI PARK) at
LIBERTY & BROADWAY.

This is a call for individuals, families and community and advocacy groups to march in solidarity.

We stand in solidarity with Madrid, San Francisco, Los Angeles,
Madison, Toronto, London, Athens, Sydney, Stuttgart, Tokyo, Milan,
Amsterdam, Algiers, Tel Aviv, Portland and Chicago. Soon we will stand
with Phoenix, Montreal, Cleveland, Atlanta, Kansas City, Dallas, Seattle
and Orlando. We're still here. We are growing. We intend to stay until
we see movements toward real change in our country and the world.

We speak as one. All of our decisions, from our choice to march on
Wall Street to our decision to continue occupying Liberty Square in
spite of police brutality, were decided through a consensus based
process by the group, for the group.

So should you (or maybe "we") perhaps ask why "It hadn't even made Drudge in 3 days"?

Yahoo blocked e-mails about Wall Street protests
By: Charles Cooper

Yahoo appears to be censoring Occupy Wall Street protest messages - YouTube

Yahoo apologized yesterday after people using its e-mail service were prevented from sending messages about anti-Wall Street demonstrations over the weekend.

The company said that an external spam filter had blocked the messages but maintained that it was inadvertent. It said that the problem has since been resolved, though there may be some residual issues.

ThinkProgress, which first noticed the problem, posted the following video of someone being blocked from e-mailing a message inviting their friends to visit the "Occupy Wall St." campaign Web site.

I haven't heard anything about this anywhere else.

This is well referenced to this thread /forum/general-chit-chat/1009219-who-uses-pbb-news-current-events.html

They started it on Friday or Saturday right? So by Monday, the first day anyone might show up to see them, they just looked more hopeless/homeless/clueless and in need of your change?

Ya, that's what did it for me. They covered the longshoremen.

Blomberg is a cocksucker, he sent private investigators to gunshows in AZ and no coverage of this, wtf Mr. Mayor? Did they not "steal" your campaign funds?

Sept. 19 (Bloomberg) -- Protesters targeting Wall Street firms marched in the financial district in lower Manhattan for a third day, chanting, "They got bailed out; we got sold out," and "All day, all week, occupy Wall Street." Dubbed “#OccupyWallStreet,” the goal of the protest is to get President Barack Obama to establish a commission to end “the influence money has over our representatives in Washington,” according to the website of Adbusters, a group promoting the demonstration. Our Mission

On the 17th of September, we want to see 20,000 people to flood into lower Manhattan, set up beds, kitchens, peaceful barricades and occupy Wall Street for a few months.

Like our brothers and sisters in Egypt, Greece, Spain, and Iceland, we plan to use the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic of mass occupation to restore democracy in America. We also encourage the use of nonviolence to achieve our ends and maximize the safety of all participants.

Who is Occupy Wall Street?

Occupy Wall Street is leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%.

The original call for this occupation was published by Adbusters in July; since then, many individuals across the country have stepped up to organize this event, such as the people of the NYC General Assembly and US Day of Rage. There'll also be similar occupations in the near future such as October2011 in Freedom Plaza, Washington D.C.

I have seen it on Fox and wasnt impressed with the turnout. Looks like all the same folks that can afford to sit somewhere for a week without getting paid.

Who else is blocking it beside Yahoos spam filter?

It is on FB and Twitter.

Fuck the asshat protestors, I could give a fuck WHAT THEY are protesting. In fact, I'm pretty sure that I oppose their agenda.

Isn't anyone here concerned that the censorship is taking place?

Isn't anyone screaming bloody murder that Yahoo shut down your e-mail due to the inclusion of one term: "#OccupyWallStreet"

If they can do that they can do ANYTHING.

Exactly how much of a gullible dipshit does one have to be not to "get this"?

Moreover; if The Star thought that by publishing the opinions of noted First Amendment attorney Michael Bloom, who apparently finds Warden’s comments to be “disgusting” and Councilman Steve Kozachik, who called Warden’s comments “racist,” they were going to further shape public opinion regarding Warden’s conduct, they are flat out wrong, wrong, wrong.

“I stand by all the things I’ve written or said since I burned a Mexican Flag in Armory Park in 2006 in opposition to Tucson City Open Border Policy and the economic policy of the Mexican government, which has been to intentionally exclude their poor to earn remittances,” Warden said.

Warden says he believes the entire Tucson establishment is opposed to his speech because, over the past five years, he has revealed their vested interest in Open Border Policy.

Perhaps Mr. Bloom is “disgusted” by Warden’s opinion that the Pima County Bar has a vested financial interest in Open Border Policy and the continuation of crime, misery and contention created by the presence of large numbers of illegal Mexican citizens in our community.

Maybe Mr. Kozachik finds “racist” Warden’s opinion that Pro-Raza, “Kill the Gringo and send them back to Plymouth Rock” rhetoric is vile, left wing propaganda.

Whatever. In 2006 the Southern Poverty Law Center called Warden a racist and “perhaps the most dangerous character to emerge in this year’s immigration debate.”

The freedom to speak one's mind is not only an aspect of individual liberty – and thus a good unto itself – but also is essential to the common quest for truth and the vitality of society as a whole. We have therefore been particularly vigilant to ensure that individual expressions of ideas remain free from governmentally imposed sanctions."

I think the problem is the whole 99% thing.

Since it's 99% of the world, it's not news.

"Should we cover it?"

"Naw, 99% of everybody already knows, why bother?"
