We have had one for 3 years now. Came with a book. My kids love it. What is hard is when you forget to move it and you end up trying to come up with a reason why it didn't move.

oh yeah! My wife picked one up last night and read the story to the girls (6 & 4). This morning there was a bit of argument getting dressed.....I didn't even have to say anything about the elf....just pointed at it! Zipped lips immediately!

I love our "Elfie"! I think it's working better this year with the 4 yo. The 2 yo doesn't get it yet. The 9 and 11 yo's still have fun looking for him, but didn't fall for the story.

My mother in law used to make them. I think we've got a couple left that we use for decorations. The cats find their styrofoam heads tasty.

Last year my then 3.5 year old cousin had to have her parents put it away. Her reasoning was it was moving around at night to new locations on it's own. I can see why she was scared, between that and the fact it has no feet, it's just creepy.

We have one too. Kids love it. Just remember to move it every night. When we forget we blame the kids, tell them one of them must have been awake or stayed up too late etc... Gets them to bed on time and helps with tantrums. I like hiding the little fucker throughout the house and watching the kids try to find him.

Ours had toothpaste all over the counter this morning, drew mustaches and beards on our family picture the other day and made pizza in the kitchen one day as well. The transformer/dinosaur marshmallow war, refrigerator repelling, TP'ing the bathroom and drunken card game with barbie will be coming soon.

Named ours Twink, to the kids it is short for Twinkle "little star"... to me he looks like a little twink.

I think those things are creepy as fawk. My older kids are too old for it (7, 9 and 13)....my youngest is too young for it (16 mos)...thank goodness. Honestly, I think my 18-year-old and I would just be scared of it! The ones I've seen are SUPER creepy lookin'. We have enough creep factor what with the toys that go off in the middle of the night...etc.

Cliffnotes: NO elfs on OUR shelves!

Ours is named George.
Kids were throwing a tantrum about cleaning up a mess they made in the den, turned around to find George was gone, stunned disbelief. You could have heard a pin drop in our house, "sure wouldn't want to know what he is saying to Santa right now" The look of shock was priceless.
You want to really f' with the kids, tell them he can read minds.
December is so pleasant now.

Lol! We need to get on there in search of new ideas. Our elf is running out of spots to sit.
We've read the 2and 4 yo the story about him losing his magical powers, but we still think they will touch him if he's within reach.
