WHEEEEEEEEEE!
|
Everyone loves to laugh at my misfortune! The trans going out in my CJ-10 is just the tip of the iceberg - Loosing the trailer down the hill at my house, loosing the 10 down the hill at my house, breaking my foot in a car accident while trying to get my Jeep done in his garage (setting up suspension with 1 foot is... difficult) Loosing my driveshaft on the CJ-7 on the first run ever and nearly getting towed off a green trail at URE... Lots of good times.
Before I met Mike I was driving back and fourth to Delaware from NC to try and get my Jeep finished (700 mile round trip!). He shamed me into bringing it to NC and he graciously offered his garage to help get it done. I would never tell him, but I learned a lot working with him. ( ). It was great talking with Mike. He is not saying much yet, but I think I could hear some of the smirks and threatening facial expressions through the phone. He sounds just like himself, which is great! His favorite word is "yes", but you can tell a difference between "I told you so" yes, "Yeah thats cool" yes, and "FAWK NO!" yes. Now that he mostly says YES! I may need to figure out some good questions to ask, and get them recorded for posterity ![]() Don't worry about pissing Mike off helping him out a little - he doesn't hold a grudge - tooo long..... ![]() Stroke is still a long, pain in the ass recovery, but he is a bunch better than he was when he was found. He still has a long way to go, though. Get better guy!

Guys, I had NO idea
http://the-gadgeteer.com/2011/09/30/...’s-experience/ http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/speak...356743683?mt=8 http://www.padgadget.com/2011/08/17/...inja-for-ipad/ when I took my iPod up it just seemed logical that some of the games/apps might help with mind and motor skills. That the iPad is actually used in recovery is just awesome !! |

Can probably get a
deal on an ipad2 now that the ipad3 is out. Might be a really good idea in a hospital, sometimes things get misplaced by accident, or it might get dropped/jostled/crunched in a bed, whatever. Maybe the fund can be a bit of a backup for a second, or a fix, just in case something happens.

I'm going to check out refurb and new, see what can be had, I did think about it becoming "lost" not quite sure how to keep that from happening short of putting a leash on it.
buying new it can be engraved with name and info, can also do a "find me " app but that works right up until it gets wiped. stil looking into options as for the iTunes, I was going to link iTunes to the PayPal account ( if it can be done that way ? ) |

iPad 2 is currently $399 for a 16gb, add 1yr Apple care ( extended warranty with too smooth move incidents allowed in those 2 years )
was thinking a " Gum Drop cover" to help protect it and there is a lap pillow that will help support it for operating on handed ( on lap or chest ) http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ms_ohs_product would the pink and white one be appropriate ? http://www.levenger.com/PAGETEMPLATE...%7Cpageid=7614 still ferreting out apps and such Last edited by Blkvoodoo; 03-31-2012 at 09:14 PM. |

Might want to keep a separate itunes account and just transfer in money when you need it? I would hate for Mike, or someone helping out, to "accidentally" spend a bunch of money from a paypal account - apple can make it pretty easy to do that if you are not paying attention.

Amazon has a good deal on the Otterbox covers. I don't have any personal experience with then but have heard good things.
http://www.amazon.com/OtterBox-Defen...3254760&sr=8-5 Edit: The price in the link is only for first gen iPads. Last edited by fisher_man_matt; 03-31-2012 at 09:37 PM. |

The Gum Drop case I linked too is thicker and more cushioned. nothing is set in stone as of yet, still waiting to see how folks decide to help. So far, it's going pretty well, we're almost halfway there ( in 3hours ) |

Kevin..
hold off and buy the Ipad3.. I have both 2 and 3 ( at work) and the 3 is a huge improvement on graphics etc.. I also forwarded your paypal info to local club Mike has been part of for a long time.. I am sure you will have the 500 or more pretty quick.. to be honest if you get enough money buy the IPad3 with 4g but do not activate the 4g it gives you a better gps internally which in the long run mike will like I just sent money also..

Oh hey, I just thought of something for the case if they make them that big. I got this rubbery, silicone sort of case for my phone. I can grip it very easily so maybe that type of material will be helpful for Mike too. This is the case I bought:
http://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Cover-...3318747&sr=1-2 It would offer something easy to grip as well as cushion in case it's dropped.

Paypal'd a few.
Getting everything engaged will make a difference. I suffered a head injury several years ago. Getting some Sudoku, Kakuru, and Crossword books seemed to help get going again. Get well soon Yager! Ryan |
