Iphone and Exchange - WTF did my email go????

Iphone users...I have been using an Iphone for quite a while now.

Last night I received an email from my ex wife that is/was kind of important as I am saving/tracking all of our discussions on said subject. While reading the email I fumbled my phone in my hand a bit and then WOOOOF...the email was gone.

Assuming that I accidently deleted the email I looked all over on my phone for it...to no avail.

I am now sitting at my desk top at work and searching all over my exchange/outlook and the email message is nowhere to be found?

Any thoughts?

Might you have sent it to a folder?

Try screaming FFFFUUUUCCCCKKKK while pounding your fist on the desk. Doesn't help much but at least the people around you will know you're upset, maybe one of them knows how to make outlook work with iphone.

On another note I am experiencing a similar issue with my entire "contacts" file.

Man it would have been a lot of fumbling to have done that...and wouldn't it have been able to be found in my outlook folders this morning?

I have searched everywhere...

repeatedly smacking the phone on the desk will help convey your displeasure to your coworkers too.

try looking in your "all inboxes" selection on your phone instead of your exchange inbox.

You could try this if your exchange admin has the server setup correctly.

I was going to say this, but ^ he^ beat me to it.

Make sure you click on Deleted Items first then you'll be able to click on "Recover Deleted Items". If you don't have Outlook 2007/2010 and have 2003, it'll be in the Tools menu after you click Deleted Items once to highlight it.

FOUND IT!!!!!!!! Not sure how it ended up where it was or even if was truly in a file...

1. I went to the message that the person replied to.
2. Right clicked on the message and selected "find all messages related".
3. In the search results it came across the missing message as well as the rest of the replies and such.
4. The "folder" that the missing message was listed under was "Access Data Collection Replies".
5. I selected the message in the search pane and dragged and dropped into my main Outlook Inbox.
6. Boom...back in business.

I am going to have to keep this little snafu in mind for future missing emails...For there have been other times that emails have mysteriously disappeared.

Thoughts...nerds...Bueller?

You can also go on Webmail for Exchange and find any deleted messages and restore them. Handy little tool.

Oh yeah? How so?

I hate going to our email admin to recover messages, because he says "I have to restore the entire mailbox", regardless he's a douchebag and I prefer not asking for his help. This would be awesome if it works and keeps me from interacting with him.

I looked into it...looks to have the same functionality that the Outlook client itself has. I'm thinking he meant maybe because the guy was at home, and had to check when he got to work. If your company has webmail set up you can check from home.

Nope, log into webmail, most enviro's have this set up (Typically https://mail.domain.com/owa). This is for exchange 2010, though exchange 2003 has it as well, just different location. Right click Deleted Items -> Recover Deleted Items.

If nothing there the exchange admin can search your mailbox for a specific email.

I don't do single mail recoveries either. It's too much of a pita. However, They are lying when they tell you they don't have the capability. It just takes more time than its worth.

He probably thinks you're a douchebag too.
