Sail, and I'm a huge fan of cats. Assuming you can live without a cabin and are just into it for the fun of it, then it' hard to beat a oodused Hobie cat. 16's are nice for solo work, 18's and Tigers are great crew manned competitive boats. Power boats are fun, but any druken redneck can run one. Takes real skill to hike out over the side of a cat and put one hull in the air.

in that price range, a nice used aluminum houseboat and a good runabout/ski boat to go with it.

For retirement...tossed between sail and power? How about a Trawler. Look for an older Grand Banks, Marine Trader, and the like. Tons of room, usually a single or twin smaller diesel, seaworthy....did I mention tons, and tons of room!

Congrats. This is by far, the most ambiguous question ever asked on pirate. Based on the information provided, you should by an aircraft carrier Quote:
My father in law has a 40' egg harbor, with a master suite, a guest suite with bunk beds, full bathroom with a shower, full galley, salon with a couch that turns into another bed... and it is listed for $69k. 10 years ago that would have been a $300k boat

If I had the $$ I would snatch it up in a heartbeat. He easily has $300k-$400k in that boat. That thing is an a tuna killing machine, and would make an awesome floating condo. Business has not been good, and he cannot afford to keep 3 boats right now.
Somebody is going to get an absolutely awesome boat for a song

Yeah, she was an absolutely perfect canyon boat. First and only tournament we entered we took first place in both tuna and mahi, and also second place in mahi. There is a really sweet fighting chair that goes on the deck that isn't shown in the pic

Specifically a catamaran. ![]() ![]() ![]() If you don't feel like sailing they have small diesel engines for puttering about. Think of the rising fuel costs - its not a car.

That Egg Harbor is a steal at that price, also my dream boat. My business tanked about 5-6 years ago, so I've started working for the man again. Job # 1 after the business closed, went South, also due to the economy at the first of the year, so I started job # 2 a few weeks ago! An awesome job, but not a Egg Harbor worthy job unless I sold my house! Good luck on the sale, also good luck to him hoping business turns around for him as being slow and selling a few things is not a good feeling!

He still has a couple of other boats, and I still have my boat, so we will still be doing a ton of fishing. No 2 day canyon trips anymore, but with the price of fuel those were getting to be few and far between anyway.
