what happens when you forget your light covers

So I forgot my light covers for my Virginia inspection. Anything above headlights requires a cover and I would instantly fail without one.

Glad I keep a roll of this in the jeep

Sorry, I don't like cock. I think those are designed so you can get closer to the wall when getting railed in a men's bathroom, right?

did you realize BEFORE you pulled into the inspection bay? or did the inspector mention it?

reason i ask is one year i had my top lights covered, but my bumper lights were bare. because my bumper lights weren't switched with the high beams i was told they had to be covered. when i went to put my covers on, one snapped in half (old aged plastic) and the guy wouldn't let me duct tape it. made me come back the next day...with duct taped light covers

The guys here love my jk. The desk dude reminded me. Also my 3rd brake light shorted sometime in the last few days and he came over and was like " I know that you would not overlook something like that seeing all the wiring and LEDs you have done. Can you fix that in 5 min while I have a smoke"

So I jumped it in like a min

I'm thinking MORE regulation would be a good thing when it comes to you and a vehicle.

What is this inspection you talk of? Nothing like that here, I can drive down the road with 50 lights exposed (and get a ticket for it, stupid 4 lights only law).

That's awesome.

I have always heard you could get a ticket for not having aux lights covered but never heard of it actually happening to anyone I know.

I doubt our state inspectors would be able to recognize an offroad light unless it was covered, and had a Big K and C written on it.

That doesn't pass VA inspection either. It specifically says no temporary covers.

"I. Inspect for and reject if:
1. Vehicle has an auxiliary lamp being used for a purpose other than for which it was approved.
EXCEPTION: Any lighting device that is both covered and not illuminated, other than lamps required, shall not be considered for inspection. Fog and driving lamps mounted below the level of the regular headlamps must be checked for aim as outlined in subdivisions I 10 i and 11 g of this section if not covered.
NOTE: The covers shall be a type that would be installed as original equipment and not tape, paper bags, aluminum foil or similar materials per subdivision I 11g (2)."

the "OE" light covers did not exist for that product when I purchased it and then were offered after the fact So I feel that Hello Kitty is an acceptable light cover for all LED light bars.

It is written, so it shall be done

I've had them threaten to fail me because my sunglasses were hanging off the rear view mirror.

I know in Virginia it used to be that you couldn't have any lights mounted above the headlamps uncovered. Years ago they couldn't even have wires run to them or you would get a ticket. Some areas you could get sway with stuff like that but around here the State Troopers would pull you and ticket you for it. Here in recent years the State has cracked down on the Inspection Stations letting stuff slide so many of them are going by the book and not letting you get sway with anything. Other stations understand some of the grey areas and will some stuff slide. Thankfully I can usually find a reasonable one as my PIAA light covers dried out and crumbled years ago, lol.
