Mini T bucket kart build

Picked up a go kart project on Friday to build with my kids. I was planning on having it stripped down, painted and ready for the motor to be bolted in by today. My kidneys had other plans for me though, ended up at the hospital getting pain killers due to kidney stones.

Here is some pictures of the go kart

I'm building a small hollowed out motor to hide the pedals. It will have plug wires, dist, and hopefully a small rad when done. Not too sure which valve covers to use though.

Started stripping it down and then ran to the hospital.

I don't think I could resist putting an engine on it.

That looks pretty heavy for pedal power. Needs a motor

Make it electric. A couple deep cycle batteries and the right gearing and it would run for hours at slightly faster than a powerwheels pace.

yes.

if you want it to be awesome, brushless and a big controller. You can program the motor controller for top speed while she's little and open it up later on down the line.

It looks like the motor is going in the back and the hollow motor will be hiding pedals... gas and brake, not bike.

^That's what I meant by hiding the pedals.

Went to a friends today and picked up a knock off 9hp motor for it with electric start. The ignition is getting moved to the little panel I cut for a dash, but it will be mounted sideways.

Most of the welds holding the fenders on left alot to be desired, and broke off when I pried on them. When I get new mounts bent up, the fenders will be removable for when the kids want a more gasser feel!

The fake motor is going to be modeled after a ford 302. I grabbed measurements off of the spare engines for my mustang. I just have to figure out how to calculate them down to the size I want, but look proportional.

I think I might leave the taxi plate on it, and paint it to match whatever colors the kids decide on for final paint. So far they want everything jet black with sublime green flames, with green/black accented seat. If this front axle will polish up, it will be staying unpainted. My cousin will be by later in the week to tape out some classic flames on both sides.

I will be ordering new tires for it tomorrow. Two sets for the rear (1 slick set, 1 set with good turf tread) and polished or chrome rims. Just have to find somewhere that has mini lights that will look like they came on a 20's roadster, or I will just find some small round led lights to mount up.
