Mine was really easy, wish I had done it earlier. I was back to work in a month, pretty much no pain during recovery. Get it done, you'll be glad!

The wife had hers done last year. She is now pain free. She had the surgery where they open up the wrist and recovery took about a month. See if you can find someone who does the laproscopic (sp?) as it cuts the recovery time to a week or two.

A chiropractor can treat carpel tunnel syndrome without surgery most of the time. I have several friends that have had carpel tunnel syndrome successfully treated by a DC.

I had the Arthroscopic surgery done last year. I waited way too long to get it done and suffered permanent damage to my nerves. The best way to describe the surgery is the best nap i ever took. (x2) I had both hands done a month apart. Before, I couldn't hold a beer in my hand for a few minutes without my fingers tingling. My biggest issue after the surgery was forcing myself to take it easy. I used my hands too much too early and got yelled at by the doc.

My recovery was very short like full use in a month, no cast or wrap in 2 weeks. The scars are 1" long and you have to hunt to find them.

Because I was afraid to get it done, I waited a long time putting up with not being able to sleep a full night without tingling burning fingers. I wore braces, I did all the stretches, I had my hands massaged etc... Now I have reduced grip strength and less "detail" feeling in my fingers. I can still do stuff just like before but it is slightly noticeable to me. Hands just feel "duller"

There's a hand clinic around here advertizing back to work in 2 days, and full use in 7-10.

That's what I'm doing. Doc showed me how to massage and work the pressure points. Still gets hurting like fawk, but its manageable. Worst is the night tingles.

I am an Orthopedic surgeon and have done a bunch of carpal tunnel releases both endoscopic and mini-open techniques. I prefer the mini open because I feel it has a lower risk of recurrence, has a lower risk of injury to the recurrent motor branch of the median nerve and superficial palmar arch, and allows complete visualization of the nerve. The surgery is easy, quick (I do mine in about 8 min cut to close) and recovery is fairly predictable. I have most patients back to work in 2 weeks after surgery. The recovery after carpal tunnel release is strongly related to the severity of pre-op symptoms and the duration those symptoms have been around. So if the symptoms are severe just get it done

Mine is to far gone to even think about it. I was diagnosed when my wife was preggo with our twins so atleast 8 years. Finally at the point where I cannot live with it anymore. Its at the point where the muscles my right arm between elbow and wrist are tense all day long.

My mom just had both her hands done. She said recovery was cake. I think she did them a month apart. Extremely happy with the results.

If a 60 y/o women can do it, you can.

I'm not sure how similar the operation or recovery is but i'm having 2 plates and 8 screws removed from my right hand on july 20th. It took me about a month to use my hand after breaking it. I imagine recovery will be quicker for carpul tunnel surgery
