Torq News

Torq is making a big move.

Levi Chase and Rocky Jannuzzello, of Wide Open Design, are joining forces to grow the Super-14.

A little history about the company.

Torq was founded in June of 2011. Its primary business was reproducing the Super-14 and G3 portal axle acquired from Portal Tek. Portal Tek was infamous in the off-road world for defrauding customers. It did develop and produce some amazing products. The dense aluminum drop-out 14 bolt axle was one of them. Made from high grade aluminum, and cast using permanent reverse tilt technology from a foundry with over 50 years of aluminum casting experience made the Super-14 superior to most other off road axles. As the owner, Levi Chase was upfront and honest with everyone that had questions regarding the Portal Tek assets. It was an uphill battle but the product started to gain traction. Earlier this year the Super-14 was proven on the rigorous King of the Hammers course. In fact for some cars it was the third year running the course with the Super-14.

It is now time to take the product to the next level. Rocky Jannuzello has been a fan of the product for several years and was excited to merge with Levi Chase to continue the growth of this amazing axle design. As with most business deals the details have taken a bit longer than anticipated. Torq is proud to announce that an agreement has been finalized. The company will be moving from Salt Lake City, UT to Murfreesboro, TN. Levi and Rocky will be working together building the Super-14 and developing new innovative products for the off road industry.

In the spirit of full disclosure, this transition has not been without potholes. One major pothole consumers need to be aware of is: James Jackson. Jim worked with Portal Tek. He also worked for Torq until May 2012. Upon his departure from the company he stole a significant amount of the company assets. These assets included drop-outs, spindles, and the intellectual property. He has been served the first of several civil suits regarding his unlawful and fraudulent activities. Torq would like to alert all its customers and future customers that items purchased through this fraudulent channel will not be warranted by Torq. These items are stolen property and can be seized pending the outcome of litigation. This would apply to any of the Super-14s, spindles, Torq-14s or any other items produced with the Torq intellectual property. Torq understands this can be confusing especially since the items are being represented as Torq's by using similar names and logos. Such names to be aware of are: Torq Development Company, Torq Motorsports, and Torq Axle. Caveat Emptor is how the Roman's said "buyer beware." Rest assured all Super-14s sold through Torq will be made using the same permanent molds, casting processes, and machining processes to provide the highest quality product.

Anyone who has questions or concerns about the future of Torq, feel free to contact myself or Rocky.

I'm soooo hoping this takes off successfully despite all the shady people in this axles past. I'm glad it seems like they are finally weeded out of the primary organization.

Can you answer one question for me? Is this James Jackson character a local SLC guy? I've got some free time this weekend, and want do what little I can to see these in production so I can get my grubby little paws on a pair.

Oh and as was stated earlier, get a yellow star, it's worth it.

Isn't Torq Axle already on Pirate?

Was Levi Chase an owner of Portal Tech?

Guys, chill out. I'm working on a yellow star.

No, Levi was not an owner nor involved with Portal Tech. He simply purchased the assets when they folded.

So www.torqaxle.com is not the "real" torq axle.....Does the "real" torq axle have a website? Seems like by now the fake torq would be in the gutter.

Rocky of Wide Open Design and Levi are the legit Torq.

We are excited about the product and manufacturing coming to TN. Only good things to come from here on out.
We have been using the Super 14's in a couple builds going in the shop. Top notch product and it will continue to be.

That looks about like instructions on how to create and then burn down your company in less than 24 hours, lol.
