So saturday night the wife and I were sitting on the couch and I heard something thumping in the dryer. I asked the wife if she had put her shoes in there cause I knew she washed them earlier in the day, she said,"no, I don't know what that is." so we continue to watch tv.

The next morning I wake up to her screaming my name so I jump up and run in the kitchen where the dryer is and there she is on the floor with her 18 year old cat. She had apparently jumped in the dryer while putting laundry in it. The cat was dead, wife is mortified and she blames herself. She is an animal lover and is a vet technician.

As for the dryer, there was shit everywhere. Got it all cleaned up and sanitized and the smell is gone.
Has this happened to anyone else?

Sorry about your loss. I know how much it hurts to lose a pet due to something so random and stupid.

Remind her, it's not her fault and random freak accidents do happen.

Not in the dryer but I did have a kitty crawl in the back. When the wife turned on the dryer I heard a thump and a MEEEOOOOW. I told the wife she better leave the room. I had to take the dryer apart to get the squished kitty out, it was stuck between the drum and the case.

Your cat does laundry? Damn, I'm impressed. Does she keep the colors separated okay? I thought cats were colorblind.

Did it once when I was a kid. Heard the thumping and ran down to the basement to open the door. My old cat came running out. He had been taking a nap in there.

My wife put a kitten in a cooler and left it there for a week outside in the Las Vegas summer.

She was 3 at the time. I found out the story when we were on the boat and was about halfway through a beer my father in law handed me out of the same cooler.

Not a dryer story, but a buddy of mine came home one day and parked his truck on a cold day and apparently the cat crawled in the fan shroud to get warm. He was pulling a trailer and after he unhooked he went to pull it up and when he started it the belt let out a squeal. He didn't think anything of it and decided later that day to see if the belt was tight, when he opened the hood he found the problem, he said it looked like a cat exploded under there.

I laugh about it when I'm not around my wife.

I don't think the best cat mechanic could fix a cat that was in the dryer on permemant press on high best for 90 mins.

We use to have a cat that would sleep in the dryer if someone left the door open on it. Had to be extra careful and make sure it was not in the dryer before using in.
