I spent almost 5 hrs. in the ER yesterday with a possible fractured wrist. No fracture, but a badly bruised bone.

The Dr askes me if I had a ride home. I said, no, I drove myself. Then he say's he'll give me a shot for pain, but I will be able to drive home.

He comes back in the room a few minutes later, says, "ok...I need you to stand up, this needs to go in your buttocks"

. WTF...(That was the only place you can give that kind and amount of that drug, according to him)

That's 2, that I've had in my lifetime

I think cortisone shots are usually in the bum, unless my doctor was a pervert.

The crazy thing is that there are nerves in your hip that they sometimes hit, and your whole leg goes numb!

DO you all remember when I had that blood infection?? Yep, they stuck me in the a$$ too!!!

She said if I would have waited any longer to come in I probably woudl have been hospitalized...the antibiotics they gave me had sedatives in them to make them work faster or something, I dunno, she explained it but after she stuck me I got really really dizzy and my blood pressure dropped so low she thought I was dying. THey woudln't let me drive myself home, I had to call a buddy from my old work.

deep intra-muscular injection ,can be done in glutious maximus or deltiod depending on amount or else it causes nasty tissue dammage. what you got stuck with mas most likely 2million units of bicillin(sp) any large dosage we need to make usualy goes there or shat that need to absorb slower. if done incorrectly can also cause sever dammage you can hit the syatic(sp) nerve or can cause scar tissue to build in the injection site.
i had the latter done and had to have a chunk of scar the size of a golf ball removed from my upper butt

used to get a GG everytime i left country(every few weeks or so). fawkin thing used leave a knot the size of a golf ball in your cheek. they used to take it out of the fridge and it took a hell of a lot of pressure to get the lipid based solution to go through the needle due to it being cold(think margarine). i used to ask to warm it up in my palm first but one time i had a cute LT there and asked her if i could warm it for a minute............ she looked at me and said " drop your drawers and suck it up airborne, you can handle it.".... OUCH!

the most painfull one to get in your butt (and the reason might be from "getting" it in your butt) is Roceferan(sp) used for certian STD's
the powder needs to be mixxed with water before injection and given that way burns like hell for a good half hour. but if you were cool i would mix it with lidocane so it would be numb.

Last year when I was in the hospital for appendicitis I was getting morphine shots in my butt every 4 hours. Each time the nurse would say "Now this might hurt a bit" . The needle hurt a hell of a lot less than the 17 staples in my stomach and besides, she was giving me morphine!!! ahhhhhh... morphine... (drifting off)...

I had to go through the rabies vaccination series a couple years ago.

4 shots in the ass the first day

2 shots in the ass two days later

shot in each arm every time.

I even got to spend $1500 to experience all of this fun.
