"The unexpected costs come at a time when Spain’s Ministry of Defense has seen its budget cut by some 30 per cent as part of austerity measures."

I wish our politicians were that dumb. Imagine that cutting the budget for austerity.

And by 30%

Here you´ll get a temporary cut in the rate of increase... At best.

Some of the pioneers in submarine technology were Spanish.

Narcís Monturiol i Estarriol - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Isaac Peral - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

One of Peral´s subs. Electric motor, periscope, one torpedo tube, air purification system... Not bad for the 1880s. And this one DID resurface.

Well crap, the new one looks just like this antique one but with a taller tower. Maybe that's the issue.

Finally something will be on the ocean floor that Spain can legitimately lay claim to.

They should sell it to Canada, we'll buy it!

A few years ago we bought some old shitty used subs from like the UK Craig's List, that had been involved in some wrecks, I think.

"Show me the SubFax!"

lol
