So is anyone else interested in seeing Elon respond to the new speed record?

I am sure publicly he will state it is not on his list of concerns, but I bet it eats at him and he begins a lap killer project just to prove a point. Ihonestly think the guy is unstoppable once he gets something in his head and surrounds himself with the best and lets them do their thing to achieve max results.

Hmmm - with GPS and so on, couldn't a race car be set up to run the fastest possible lap for it's own power and handling dynamics without a driver?

Battle of the software engineers for fastest lap and no driver error.

After Iposted my last comment this actually became my thought of where Elon may go with it, break the lap record with an autonomous vehicle and start a whole new classification of lap times.

it's impressive, but you'll have to put me in the james may the nurburgring is ruining cars camp.

I don't want to buy a fucking track tuned car to drive on the street.

It is trickle down technology just like drag racing, formula etc. It all adds to the efficiency, power and safety of the street level vehicles.

My buddy has a Focus RS and it rides like shit. He dailys it and is used to driving mini on coilovers so it's actually better than that, but it falls into that category. Having a car that rides like that gets old quickly.

The ACR is a different animal. It's a track beast and has been knocking down records for the past year.

Its not so bad, Idrove a track tuned vehicle on the street as a daily for a few years in PDX and never had any issues with it.

I'd like to see what this could do at the Ring. Top 10 for sure, likely top 5.

Yeah, that was the 1987 version. I want to see the 2017 version run. With modern tires that 30yo car would likely be in the top 100, kinda like Dark Side of the Moon on the Billboard 200.

The original Yellowbird.

One of my favorite driving videos was an old Ruf promo at the 'Ring. The in-car wasn't the usual in car/harness bar angle, and it showed more of the driver. I just remember the guy was in a polo shirt and no helmet, smooth as can be at full on 11/10ths. It was badass. Can't find it.

That's Stephan Roser, and I've posted it up here at least once. Awesome driving, especially considering the 915 gear box, which wasn't known for its' quick shifting.

Why?

That is exactly the type of racing the viper was built for and competes in.

Impressive, no doubt

Is 16 cars really a production car?

AFAIK Tesla has zero race ambitions, the Tesla at Pikes Peak, sponsored by a green battery company, could not attract any help from the mother company. None.

Musk is too busy going to Mars, digging tunnels to avoid traffic, fleecing the tax payers and share holders, and putting freakin laser beams onto great white sharks and shit, all while hiding in his lair in the dormant volcano. Or do I have him confused with someone else?
