Freezing an LCD monitor

I tried researching this, but there is so much contradicting info, I figured I would ask the fount of knowledge. Its supposed to be around 0* F tonite, and I left my laptop out in the truck and I'm too lazy to go get it. Can an LCD screen freeze and be damaged?

The amount of time and effort you put into typing this you could have gotten it

I have left laptops in cold weather but not that cold. For sure let it warm up before using

I just got out of the shower, I'm sitting here in my pjs, and the truck is about 25 yards from the house, and there is lots of ice and snow in between.

Maybe he just didn't want his sopping wet pussy to freeze.

LCD panel should have been fine out there. Besides, it's not like they ship monitors in heated trucks in winter. A lot of them have an operating range of 32 to about 100 degrees, so one would think the worst case is having to let it warm up before using.

GPSs get used on sleds and left outside frequently here and I've never heard of a problem other than they don't work when they are very cold. Once they are warmed up they function fine, even after repeated freezing. Friend uses exhaust heat from the muffler on his sled, through flex tubing, aimed at his GPSIII+ and it supplies enough heat to keep the screen functioning even at
-40 and colder.

0F ain't shit. I wouldn't start worrying until it gets down to -15F or less. Hell, we have test sets with LCD screens and the specs say it is ok to store at temperatures down to -40.
