Wakelee's Camelline?

My neighbor has an old bottle collection and in it is a glass bottle labeled "Wakelee's Camelline" in raised letters. The bottle is about 4 inches tall and 1 inch wide roughly and is a dark blue color.

anyone know anything about what Wakelee made or when? I did a Google on it and came back with no hits at all so just trying to see if anyone has heard or knows about the product contents and the manufacturer.

I got it in one try, searching camelline.

Quote:
It was in Buffalo, New York, 1822, that Henry Peck Wakelee first established himself as a druggist. Thirty-five years later, he moved his business to San Francisco, California. Within ten years Wakelee was one of the largest wholesale druggists on the West Coast. Wakelee's Camelline claimed to "impart a healthful, natural complexion". This bottle is made from cobalt blue glass and embossed with "WAKELEE'S/CAMELLINE".

Yeah I saw that but was hoping for some info with some actual substance like what years the products were available, what years this bottle was also available...things like that.

Well good luck. I have found that the product was produced in both Cobalt Blue and Amber bottles. Looks like it's a fairly popular bottle for collectors.
