55' Chevy "GASSER" Build Up

So the time has finally come...

My dad and I built this car together back in the early 80's and when I was old enough I drove it to HS and raced it every Wed & Saturday night I could.

Well after 25+ years it's time for a rebuild with my SON... We decided to make a gasser out of it.

Were not going to cut the body up, but I am going to put a sub frame up front.

Today was pretty COOL.. About half way into pulling the engine, my dad showed up in his GTO and helped out a bit. Pretty AWESOME to have three generations working on the same car..

Let the build begin

This is one awesome project the car is sweet and having you son dad and you all build the same car, this vehicle will mean more than anything else your family owns when done. This is the type of project every man hopes and wishes to do. I'm subscribed can't wait to see more progress.

You've got one lucky kid. Little guy is gonna have more experience than 90% of people on this board by the time he can legally drive.

I'm still diggin the license plate on the DMAX

A guy I know has a 55 gasser. You've probably seen it at some of the local shows. He's got a primer gray one. Can't miss him tall guy named Dan.

Fawkin' A man, you inspire me. Keep up the good work, and it's awesome you include your son. My fondest memories of my late dad are the ones we worked on my car together.

Can't tell you what size it is, its a Big Block (427/454).

Straight axle, big block, fender well exit headers, 6-71 and an already sweet '55. Sounds like one hell of a gasser recipe!

Edit: BTW, I love the plates on the DMAX!

I can relate, especially since it is a '55.
Here is mine. My grandfather bought it new in '55. My dad took his drivers test in it. I remember riding with my grandfather all over Georgia and down to Florida on vacations fishing-- and to the local fishing hole sitting on his lap driving when I was little.
My grandfather died last December at age 94.
It sits in my garage now and mainly I just take it to shows. Of course it will go to my son when he is old enough and has his own place.

Sentimental value quickly heads off into the stratosphere...

You will be making a very lasting impression on your son. There are so few things these days that can so effectively tie generations together. This is something that does it better than most anything else IMO.

Not going that far... It's going to require some lift in the rear too
