Can you live off white rice?

Watching the UFC hype before the fight they were talking about Pat Berry and where he got to a point in his life where he ate nothing but white rice and ketchup.

Got me to thinking.... can you live off white rice alone?

We buy heinz ketchup. I looked at the bottle earlier. I never knew just how much sugar was in it. But we are out of the red box o rice. So I didn't get to peek at the gusto.

I think if someone were to live off any single food item it would be detrimental that person's health.

Why'd he only eat rice? Was he just broke?

No you can't. You need protein too. There's a reason settlers ate rice and beans all the time, because rice has the grains and beans have the proteins you needs. They'd eat meat when they could but in between, it's rice and beans.

Hmm I am not a doctor but, most asian countries have white rice as THE staple to the diet. Now how large (not fat) are those folks. A diet like that can't help in the long term. Long term being generations. Growth is based on diet and genetics.

Said he was broke as a joke. Had to do that to survive and not live off others.
