Rental Car Fees and Taxes, Houston Tx

Headed to Houston next week and was reserving my rental car for the trip. I don't pay much attention to the tax and fees (company pays for travel), except the cost of the rental seemed a little higher then normal.
Thanks Houston

Cons Facility Chg 3.75/day
$15.00
Iah Busing Recovery Fee
$4.49
Concession Recoup Fee 11.11 Pct
$25.53
Harris Sports Venue Tax 5 Pct
$13.52
Veh License Cost Recov 1.45/day
$5.80
Motor Veh Rental Tax (10.0%)
$27.03
Subtotal
$91.37

This is 1/3 the cost of my rental and if I added daily insurance it would be half the cost of the rental.

On another note: Where's the best BBQ in the Houston area.

Yep. The car I rented from SLO was $70, and my total came to ~$120 after the sales tax, airport tax, fuck you tax, and all the other shit they tack on.

OTOH, my county has no taxes on rentals- just the ~$1/day 'registration recovery fee'.

Thanks for the BBQ tip. I love going to Texas, can't find better smoked brisket and sausage then Tx.

Yep, rent car fees suck here. Every time I have been hit in my car the insurance freaks and tells me they aren't paying for the new stadium. I just have to argue with them.

I haven't found much BBQ here that I love, but there are some good places.

When are you here and how long? Maybe we should do a PBB lunch crew if you have time.

Yeah, you should see my taxes and fees subtotal for my rental in California for KOH.

Ironically, the cheapest rental car I can get is a 2door Jeep.

I'll be in town next Monday the 24th till Thursday morning. Probably staying around M.D. Anderson since I'll be working there.

Bettah: I've been comped a Hummer more than once when arriving late in Portland Oregon. Seems most people are afraid to rent them there and by the time I get in on the 10 PM flight, all the subcompacts (which I reserve) are gone.

I got a 4 door 2500 4WD chevy long bed with an 8.0 once because of that.

No one, literally NO ONE wanted to drive that sucker.

I'm SOOO glad I wasn't paying for the gas in it, that 8.0 was way too much fun at stop lights in tow/haul mode.

Ticket Master... we almost bought some disney show tickets for this weekend. Now, they were on sale for $11 instead of $18, but by the time they got done adding on all these little fees and shit, the price went from $44 to over $70.

Ended up saying fawk that %70+ fee bullshit, we'll save that $70 for great wolf lodge.

That never happens to me.

With my luck, they'll be out of the 4x4 I requested and I'll end up driving to the lakebed in sugarsand with a hybrid Prius.

I'm pretty sure you can thank former mayor Bill White for a lot of that shit. When you open your city to a shitload of moochers from Louisiana during Katrina, and make it a safe haven for illegals, you have to get the money from somewhere. Seems like passing it on to the local businesses was his idea of a good way to make it back.

Yeah well, there were stickers all over the things saying: "if we see a spec of red sand on our bitch, you just bought her."
