Real or Fake???(huge rattlesnake)

A friend was logging near Kings Mountain State Park in NC/SC area. They found 2 of these about the same size. I immediately called shenanigans, but he's willing to take me to his freezer to show the actual snake.

They say it's a Timber Rattler, around 8ft, with 14 rattles. That head looks rediculous. We don't have very many rattlesnakes around here so this is way unusual.

Damn. I googled it, and it's saying the record is only around 6'. Diamond backs get that big, but that's a massive damn snake.
And better pics?

it's a snake 4 ft. from the camera, held by a guy 7-8 ft. from the camera. i have a pic like that of a 17 lb blue gill (caught it on a 2 lb cricket).

Go look in the freezer.

Either way, it would have enough venom to kill you dead, and that's all that really matters.

I live in the same county as kings mountain, nc and in my 30 years I have never seen or heard of a rattle snake in the area. Yes the ate west of us mountains and east of us on the coast but all we have is copperheads. So I as a local I call bs.

1) That's an Eastern Diamondback

2) They do get that long. I ran over one that big on a bike once, I thought it was a log (deep grass) and my stepbrother informed me it was a rather large rattler.

hard call,i think the pic is fake, but about 2 years ago my buddy and i found one across the end of his driveway that was 86 inches, timber rattler.but i was no where near as fat as the one in the pic.i pinned him with a shovel and my buddy got the head with the axe.that one was probably about the size of a tennis ball in the fattest part.they grow um big in the south, but i don't know about that big.

Ive seen a rattler laying across a 2lane highway, back in 91, on the way to del rio tx. Appeared to be nearly as long as the 2 lanes.
