Where might I find these round "plow disks" that are pre-hole?

I'd like to make a couple of these "plow disk cookers" which is basically just a blank plow disk shaped piece of steel with 2 horse shoes welded to it. I'm looking for a supplier that might sell just the round steel disk without a hole punched in it like a real plow disk, anyone have any ideas? I believe that's a 24" disk, anything close to that size would work.

Yep, and they're cheap and easy to find. You could always cut the handles off and weld on some horse shoes if you feel the need to redneck it up to prove your manliness.

Hard to tell from the pic, but that looks really deep to be a real plow disk. Pre hole was a spade shape, if you actaully want an "old disk" most are going to be smaller (again scale is difficult in that pic) as those would be easier to pull with low horsepower tractors or a team. Either way, just weld up the "hole" with a patch on the disk you bought at an estate sale.

You're making this too hard... Just go to your local junk tractor place, get a used disk of the correct size, weld up the hole in the middle and use it.

It's not a harrow disc, it's a plow disc...from a "disc plow". They used to be popular a while ago.

Plow disks usually have four small holes that they attach by. Should be able to weld them up fairly easily. Go poke around at your local farm implement place and see if they have any laying around. I'm sure you can get them cheap.

I don't even want one, I have a bunch of friends who want to learn how to weld and they want these things... You got a plow over there for that tractor of yours I could borrow for a day?

No. I did used to have some old discs that had cracked and we replaced them, but we hauled them off for scrap a few years ago. I think Dad still has a disc, but the bullet proof vest you're going to need to buy to go get it will probably cost more than buying some discs.

Dad bought some disks from the ag store last year and the guy asked him what kind of cooker he was making.

He seemed quite puzzled when dad told him it was for his disk.

This place has 22" for about $35 each, but they have a hole that they'd have to weld up. If you jump to 24", the price goes to about $70 each.

My immediate suspicion is that if you're buying anything other than 1, 2, or an entire set, you're probably doing something other than replacing disks on a field implement.

I saw that, I don't want to deal with welding up the hole and frying catfish with the hole there won't be easy. We found a place in Marble Falls that sells them with no hole...

If you're driving to Marble Falls you'll be 2 minutes away from my house, stop in for a beer

So they want to learn how to weld, but won't be bothered with welding up a small hole? Might as well bolt the horse shoe handles on and be done with it.

Welding horse shoes to it is easy but somebody would have to cut those little plugs and show them how to weld them in... I'm not that patient plus that's more work than I really want to do. The place in Marble Falls is quoting $24 each if you buy 25 of them for a 24" disk with no hole.
