I likethe tube doors, but with the skins they look like stock doors with the windows down. This definitely shows Hollywoods ability to follow body lines etc, but I would go with just the tube, or maybe the skin on some dzus fasteners.

I recently got rid of my rockwelled 4runner buggy and am now building a family rig so I will be keeping an eye on this thread. If you want to show more details of the latches and hinges that wouldnt hurt my feelings at all!

The stock doors have a 12 inch tall window. They are at least 6 inches thick, I can't even get my head out the window without having to lift myself out of my seat. And even then I have to rest my jaw on the door.

If you sit inside of it you can totally see the front tire and barely have to lean out. It makes a huge difference.

If you notice the lower line of the back glass, that should give you and idea of the improvement.

+1 what's the point of tube doors if you can't look through them for better visibility?

Once you post them side by side you can really see the difference...in the pic with the stock doors you cant see the steering wheel at all!

[QUOTE=Bebe;14520601]I like those too!

Hollywood might be able to adapt these by making a small relief hole in the door. Put Teflon cloth between the door tube and the bracket and you can rotate them back in when you need to. He can re-drill the bracket for the mirror itself. All Hollywood......LOL

Been busy painting for the last day or two

Rear Doors

Front doors

Drivers side installed - with mirror

Passenger side with mirror

We are leaving early in the morning for our WeBilt Club Rig inspection for our Disabled Sports Far West Rubicon Adventure....wish me luck

It will be my first trip up the hill with no doors.

Well, I passed inspection....BUT I had a lot of metal sparklies in my rear diff oil. So Roy (one of our WeBilt members) is coming over tomorrow after work to pull the diff apart and inspect the issue. I think it's the pinion bearing (there has been play in it for a while and the pinion seal has been weeping very slightly). Best case scenario - replace the pinion bearing and reset the gears - worst case, rebuild the whole thing. Either way, it will be a cheap fix.

I need too update my fire extinguisher (out of date....check yours!!) and Rick needs to finally install my bad azz CB radio that he bought me for my Birthday LAST year

Then I will be all set for the disabled sports run August 10,11,12th!

These guys go through the rigs with a fine tooth comb....It turned out great!!!

The doors are awesome. I'm so happy. We need to finish the mirrors, speakers, arm rests and skins. I really like driving it without doors. But I need to figure out what to do with my hair - It's too long and blows all over the place.

I really like how they turned out. When you get the skins on are they going to be able to seal tight enough to ford up to the base and not let water through as long as you keep moving? Good luck on the repairs.

Any plans to put some form of removable window or cover over the open area in case a storm finds you on the trail or parked somewhere?

Great build. I re-read the long travel thread from start to finish and forgot about going to lunch.

I like how the front and rear doors tubes form a singe line (the horizontal bars). Looks clean like that...

Not really, if I did that I'd never put the doors back on

Sorry about your lunch, I owe you one

Thank you.

Dave is really good with aesthetics

I'm working on an idea for the skins and had Poly Performance send me some Dzus Fasteners, I'll post some pics up tomorrow.

These look really good... good to see ideas for mine, when I can justify the doors instead of just running without them I'll have to steal some ideas, or just call your guy & get a set!

Curious though, why are you wanting to put the flare on the rear door? That flare being gone is one of the things I love about the doors being off, I can look right at the rear tire & whatever I'm approaching much easier with the flare off.

I think aesthetically it looks a lot better with the flare on there and without the bulk of the front door getting in your way you should still be able to get a good enough view of the tire without the flare being an issue.

No biggie. I just figured since there was some concern since the BCM is inside and the interior is pretty nice form the look of it that you wouldnt want to possible have it ruined by one of those random rainstorms that might happen.

Keep up the great work.
