Civilian H1 wheel question
Ok so my friend has a 95 hummer h1. Right now it has the steel, double-beadlock wheels. About a year ago he bought a set of aluminum 16.5" h1 wheels (eight hole-design) with some bald parnelli-jones dirt grip tires for cheap.
Fast-forward to last week. A local shop put a lift kit on an h1 and sent out the wheel/tires to have larger tires mounted. My friend bought the old tires, only to recieve them and find out they are for 17" wheel. Now the tires are in great condition, he wants to keep them and get wheels for them, then sell the other 16.5" aluminum wheels. He called around and found a guy with some 17" aluminum hummer wheels but he said they are 16 hole design. I have never seen hummers with 16 hole wheels. Could someone post up what these look like? Thank you.

I don't believe the 16.5s are beadlock. Do you have a pic of what the 17s look like?

I'm pretty sure all H1's are 8-lug.

As Sewie mentioned, all h1 wheels are 8 lug. The alum 1 piece wheels are not beadlocks but the runflats that are sometimes in them lock the outer bead (me thinks). That being said, the 2 piece runflats for these wheels are doo-doo (heavy and sometimes hard to balace).
The 2 piece 16.5 steel wheels (fairly cheap and plentiful) as well as the 2 piece aluminum wheels (sweet rims, hard to find...and $$$) are not beadlocked themselves, but have an internal rubber insert that locks both beads. The runflats for these wheels also lock the beads (and are better than the 2 piece runflats) but unless you plan on getting shot at while wheeling take them out. You'll save nearly 40 lbs per wheel and a big pain in your butt when getting new tires mounted. the link to Chuck's tech page that Sewie posted has volumes of great info on all aspects of h1's.
