have you guys looked at brad falins koh car its all hummer diffs and geared hubs. Independent fron solid axle (made with h1 parts) rear.

I will post some pics, Someone said geared hub or portal vehicles can only go 70 mph, my desert car i have had at 116mph, and the new car i havent got to run it enough for a top speed yet, very soon though!!

You typically see used Hummer portals advertised from $100.00 to 250.00 each depending on the condition. When my mil scrap guy gets them we can pick 'em up for $50.00 each.

Whoever the poster was didn't know what they were talking about or it was taken out of context. A portal box top speed would only be limited by combined vehicle gear ratio, tire diameter and engine RPM. I guess box design could limit top speed as far as longevity or strength, but that wouldn't play a part with a Hummer gearbox, they are plenty beefy.

BTW- good to finally meet you face to face, sorry we didn't get a chance to talk more outside the contingency interview. Unicorns and 4 leaf clovers, hah!

H1 Portals in a KOH car is definitely cutting edge stuff, and if anyone can master it - It's Brad.

I loved the KOH car - was stoked to see it on Chocolate Thunder!

They are wilwood rotors, i had to machine the spindle so they would mount flush, they are commen parts and i think they were around 185.00 each, i have some 14 inch rotors that would also work if your interested, they wouldnt cleat a 17 inch rim, thats why i didnt use them. the one in the photo are 12.125

I have a LS2 powered truck 4WS IRS IFS 10k Portal rear engine 3spd transfer case 18" wheel travel geared for 130mph @6400 rpm will weigh in at approx 3000lbs. How the FAWK do you post pics on here, read the how to FAQ but all I can find is a thing that tells me to put in a URL for the images.....cant you just upload em?

garand_engineering & Bradleys very cool rigs, interested in what center sections you guys used?

My friend Flip used 8.8 Centers when we built his rig, I wish we would of had a set of portal hubs available as it would of saved us from making our own knuckles.

I used nissan 300zx TT centers, custom made drive flanges that the discs and CV's bolt to. These centers are seriously beef! the ring gear is 9.05" and 1 3/4 thick...I couldn't find and 3rd that is built this strong, used these to eliminate another hard to get to failure point so the only thing I have to replace possibly is the axle/cv but even they are over built for the application. Ill post some more pics of that stuff if you need.

Dont quite know what the WMS is but the track width is 80" on stock 12 bolts, cant run to much wider here as our tracks are formed from years of std FJ40 cruisers and old landrovers carving into the dirt, any wider and you simply cant fit!
