OK. I am sold

On Hummers.

Or actually HUM VEE's

StJame151's Hum Vee was the official FOE "transport Kurt's fat ass" vehicle this past weekend at the King of the Hammers, and I was impressed.

That puppy FLYS through the desert, and not only did James totally Get It in the Desert and over some bomb craters at speed.....

He let ME drive it!

Man. That thing got up and went WAY faster than I would have expected. Not nearly as fast as the FOE comp buggy, but it was quick (and fun)

I thought I had uploaded more pics of it on a dune, but I can only find one in my photobucket. I will try to upload more tonight and get them posted.

A HUGE thanks to Bebe and Speedy for the ride down and putting up with me! LOL!

Here's a pic of the Friends of Eldorado Comp buggy just for shits and giggles.

Unfortunatley we broke down in the LCQ.

that doesn't look like a stock engine in that hmmwv. There is no way he could pull that much torque.

Why is there a scoop over the air extractor vents?

If I had to guess it would be this...

Scoop = Mo air
Mo air = Mo cool.
Mo cool = Mo go!

I'd like to see pics of the Cummins install.

correct on the mo air! To maintain decent ground clearance and a low-ish height, the radiator stack is at a 45 deg angle. The scoop tells the air where to go instead of giving it the option to fly right over the top of the hood.

I'd love to see mo pics as well! A sweet truck.

The air is not designed to escape through the top of the hood.

Air enters both the front and upper grill. There radiator stack is mounted at a 45 degree angle (as mentioned before). There is a fan on the back of the stack mounted vertically that pulls the air towards the back, the air exits just in front of the engine.

I would also like to see more pictures, tried searching for FOE hummer, but came up pretty empty handed.

The stock configuration has a puller fan, but the Cummins is a long muther fucker so I went with electric pushers. The scoop just helps since MoGo makes a lot of heat, and if you put a piece of tape on the front of a HMMWV it will stand up vertically at 50mph.

There is really no build thread, mostly cause I didn't do one but I'd be glad to answer any questions.

It replaced this:

Yeah, that thing was flippin awesome during the NVTR. The only problem was my navi doesn't have steady enough hands or enough knowledge of the GPS software to use the touchscreen efficiently at speed. I hooked up the computer antenna directly to the body so it should use the entire truck as an antenna. It looks like they forgot to take the communication module out before they sold the computer. As soon as the market turns around a little, I will add it to my business service. The big antenna is gonna get tuned for a HAM booster when that license comes. Ah, the never ending project.
