H3 Evolution and Trail Pics-

My wife wanted to start driving on our trail runs, so I built up her rig to follow the TJ. In between trips to the mall and the grocery store, we managed to get it a little dirty.

The evolution went from stock on 32"s, to 2" lift* and 33"s, to 3" lift* and 35"s with custom winch bumper and skids. (* Denotes torsion lift)

Stock on 32"s-

Loch Lomond, CO

2" Lift on 33"s-

Slaughterhouse Gulch, CO

China Wall, CO

Hells Revenge, Moab

3" Lift on 35"s-

Illinios Gulch, CO

Left Hand Canyon, CO

Metberry Gulch, CO

Fireman's Hill, CO

Hidden Valley, CO

Rocky Mountain Loop, NC

So all you did was max out the torsion bars to fit 35's on the stock wheels? Any rubbing at full lock? How's the ride with the torsions cranked so hard?

Mine are a three and a half turns, and have been that way for over 65,000 miles.

Changed my halfshafts at 82, 000 miles under warranty. (worn out boots)

For some reason it doesn't seem to affect the H3 double a-arm suspension the way most would think and IFS would typically go thru CV's from the pre-load..

Tires rub a little on the sway bar, but beyond that...it's better than lifting it.

Well dangit. Now you got me thinking. The wife's been wanting me to get something a little more baby-friendly.

You can go taller without going wider and fit 35's without rubbing. Looks kinda wierd with them that tall and thin but when you air down they fatten right out where you need it.

Bebe, glad you found your bushing!

Three full turns on ours. Nope, not maxed out either.
Hell, I thought I had the ONLY H3 that got wheeled in Colorado.

Our tires on the H3 measure out to 12"s which is as much or wider than most 12.5" tires. Maybe it's the H3 that make them look thin, but they are as wide as any other 12.5" tire.

Our torsion bars are not maxed out and the ride is really not much different than stock. The suspension is stiffer, but the sidewalls on the tires are much larger which softened the ride. So in the end, it still feels about like stock. We have 34,000 miles on ours with only one trip to the dealership for a warranty fix.

We looked at the Rancho kit, but for $4k, we would still only be on 35"s.

Edit: I can make the tires rub on a full lock turn. It's not too bad, but there is a slight rub.
