check also hummerproducts.com. Adjustable shoks (like Rancho 9000) and RTC (Tom) will be able to answer if they work or not.

The Cepek adjustable shocks: Just email Tom, at hummerproducts.com and check with him about the 2inch lift. (He makes that shock one inch longer than stock, so doublecheck if it works.) We do run those shocks, they are great, and the adjusting really works to finetune the ride.

I have a set of the Cepek shocks, I haven't installed them yet. Been itching to [I'm overhauling my suspension when I do so I'll post pictures].

Cepek asked me if I had a lift kit, they make a 1-2" longer version for those with spacer kits. My rig's OEM so I just got the normal ones.

I'll throw this out there:

The type of shocks you choose will depend entirely on how you will use them.

Calling someone like Samco, or Rod Hall products, or any of the others listed here in this thread will allow you, or your friend to decide which application will suit you best.

Things to consider...
will you be using them off road? A lot, seldom, rock crawling, desert, street, a mixture of all?

Shocks are very personal, and it's better to spend as much money as you can on a application you will like. I can say from experience, a good shock with the right application will keep you very happy.

The hardest part is knowing what you like.

Unfortunately for the H1/HMMWV you don't have that many choices.

You have OEM which is ok, but pricey [Cepek would be the same price if not cheaper compared to the dealer]. There are different models of OEM shocks for the different GVW classes if I recall.

You have army surplus/ebay specials, I'd avoid these unless you want to swap them every few thousand miles. They're junk IMO. There's a reason why the government blew these out wholesale.

And you have Cepek adjustibles.

Past that you have to do control arm/shock mount modification. In which case you can go with Fox shocks with a modified shock mount tower and lower control arm shock mount. Rod Hall has a kit for that complete with new control arm mounting hardware.

Cepek is going to be introducing a new set of shocks, non adjustible in the future.

I went with the cepek adjustables since they have a life time warranty. Plus I can adjust them with the air control kit to have one setting for washboard roads and another for crawling around rocks.
