12 Bolt Variations
I just picked up 5 12 bolt wheels and was doing some work on them today. Cleaning them up, repainting, etc. I started assembling them and noticed some slight variations and wanted to double check a few things.
Ive got 3 wheels with 3 dimples around the raised circle around the lugnuts These wheels, when tightened down all the way have the backside of the dimple contact the tub and leaves about a 1/8" gap between the two halves when fully torqued. i havent had a chance to air it up yet since I need new valve cores, so Im not sure if it holds air or not. I am also curious if it is because of the HDPE insert I am using is not the right size. I think it is, but the cuts were kind of inconsistent on them. Ive got 2 wheels like this with no dimples: When these are tightened down, the two halves do not fully meet, but appear to be closer together than the other type. the tubs appear to be the same on all the wheels, at least to the naked eye without taking measurements. Are these gaps normal, or is it possible the wheel halves may have been mixed and matched improperly by the previous owner. |

ok first off there are at least 2 versionof the 12 bolt rim that i know of.
2nd: you did get new o rings right? trust me it's worth the 15$ 3rd: the inserts should be cut correctly. what do you mean inconsistent? 4th: some gap is normal on H1 wheels of all types. i only know the 8 bolt info off hand though.
