H-1 VIN denotations ????
I am potentially looking to purchase a pre-'06 H-1.
I read the following in an internet ad for a used H-1: "Most important though is that it has the heavy duty engine block! Earlier produced series had a flaw where the #8 cylinder wall cracked. The "FA" in the VIN indicates it has the heavy duty block" I am considering the purchase of a 2000, which the current owner (2nd owner) states has the Heavy Duty block, however it does not contain an "FA" in the VIN. any help would be appreciated

I did just find this:
# VIN 10th Digit designating year = "Y" # Engine: 6.5L Turbo Diesel 195 H.P. 430 lb. ft. VIN 4th digit ="Z" # 4L80E Electronic 4 speed Automatic Transmission. VIN 5th digit ="A"

Maybe it had a cracked block that has already been replced. i dont think that would chmnge the vin number but he should have some paper work to prove his statement.
