Time for a re-build

Ok trying this out on the phone. So i think its time to rebuild the scout. My frist build was quick and dirty. Hacked up some fenders and put my buddys Ford bronco stuff in, but got rid of all that and now its time for some other stuff. The plan: ford 351w, np435, np203 range box, to a dana 20, ford dana 60 cromo and flaged up front, steerling in the rear, FOA 2.5 16" coilovers and airbumps ( which i still need) full hydr steering ( farmer style. Keeping it IH). Going to tube the front and keep the skins. Rear tube work for coilover support. Front and rear dual tri foul link. Going to see how this all plays out. This is about as far as i have gotten. No real plans just going for it. Hope it all turns out ok.

Some more pics. Belly pan should be around 20" from the ground. Building it at full bump will probly set about 5-6" taller

Yep cut it out of 1/4 plate. Planning on doing as much of the frame as possible, but im not trying to move a bunch of crap as in rock sliders and body mounts.

Well its been a little while and really havent got much done. No excusses but getting ready for my son is taking up some of my free time. But i just recieved my upper link tab mounts, and my air bumps came. Also recieved the back seat and cut the back window out. Hopefully this weekend i will have the uppers tacked into place.

Yes im using just the front of a 203 case the range box and have adapted it to a dana 20. Broncos use this doubler set up and i got the kit through wild horses. It gives me a pretty good range of gearing. I believe the dana 20 im running is 2.73 in low and the 203 doubles that when it is in low. The dana 20 will be ran till i blow it up ( which all my buddies think it will be quick) then an atles or a 205 will come into play. If $$ wasnt an issue then i wouldnt mess aroumd with the 20. But just going to run what i brung for now.

Was just wondering how you were going to accomplish that. I run a 203/20 behind a big block and haven't broke it yet. Mine is a texas pattern 20 thou, built the adapter myself. Main reason i did it was because i have a few Dana 20s sitting around. Figure eventually i will swap this setup into a lighter rig and put a 203/205 in it.

I like what you're doing with this SII, looks good and right up my alley.

Glad to hear that you have not broke yours yet. Every one i talk to about the 20 has a different oppion. Some say it should have already broke or just wait, and others seam to like them. So far i like. I will try to keep my progress moving forward and keep the post updated, thanks.

Have you seen the uber20 build that billavista has in the tech articles? Nobody can argue that his setup wasn't used hard. Yeah it was replaced eventually but it worked and was cheap.

Well a few small steps where made. I now have all the links tacked into place uppers and lowers. All the heims nice and centered. If everything works out good should have some nice flat uppers, with the lowers having some angle, nothing to bad thou. Buddy has a nice bender and notcher on the way with a few dies that i have invested in. Messed around with coilover angles. Next few weeks should be able to get some bending done ( or really mess things up) and get these shocks in..... Well who knows my son should be here any day and that might slow things down.

Well got the motor back out and pulled the trans out. Sealed adaptor plate put trans back in, and started mocking up the hydro clutch. Put the flywheel and clutch on the motor. Going to weld up a few of the link mounts while the motor is out, (gives me a bit more room to work). Moved the shifters around so they done interfear with each other, and kept them with in arms reach.

Then on monday morning i became a father to my new wheelin partner. My son 7lbs 19.5" long 8:23am oct.23. Wife pushed him out in about an hour without any pain meds, must give it up to her. She a champ.

Wow it has been a while since i have been here to post. Some progress has been made but it is slow. Got some cage work done front shocks mounted, working on the rear. Motor is fully in with the mustang upper intake all in links all welded in. Have the wiring harness, got that from painless. Still need to wire it, exhaust, steering, lots of sheet metal patch work. Hoping its all together by memorial day weekend so i can take it out to moonrocks and break her in.

I ripped half the teeth off the middle gear of my dana 20 with a stock 304-727-20 combo. No thanks.
