ih4ever's Revival

Alright guys here we go!!

I know its been a LONG time since I've posted on here but now I'm BACK!

So as the title says ih4ever's revival. It has offically begun, its been nearly two and a half years since I've driven the Scout. I tore just about everything possible on the Rubicon two years ago. I swore up and down the whole trip. I also swore I would be back to conquer that damn trail!!

Over the past month or two I've been slowly putting together my parts and rebuilding things as neccesary.

So the plan is to take my boring old scout with an SOA and dana 44's with 35's and turn it into a big bad four wheeling machine!! Links, coilovers, big motor, the whole nine yards.

I contacted my buddy scouttank and we put together a nice lil plan to get my Scout up and wheeling again!

Probably over the last five years or more, I've purchased a whole lot of shit to throw at the Scout. The list includes, but not limited to...

1990 Chevy 5.7L TBI
1986 700r4 "K" Case
1985 CUCV 1 Tons
and all sorts of other fun stuff

So the final plan is to....

Run the chevy 350 TBI, to the 700r4.

For the tranny, I just bought the "monster in a box" kit for the 700r4, its rated for 650 ft lbs of torque

From the tranny, I already have a 4:1 Klune V, mated to a np205 with 32 spine front and rear outputs. With a 1410 front yoke and a 1350 CV rear.

And for the suspension, I plan on doing a 4 link front and rear. Racerunner Coilovers front and coils in the rear. (all suspension links and joints and springs all ready purchased)

**and of course the final product is subject to change**

Tune in for photos of the build to come.

And now for the good stuff!! PHOTOS!

Here she is all loaded up on scouttanks truck and trailer.
[IMG][/IMG]
In route to its new home

At its new home. scouttanks pad. Giving it something to look forward too.

[IMG][/IMG]

Day one: Put Scout on frame stands and took off tires, doors, fenders, and grill.
[IMG][/IMG]

Day two: Got inner fenders off and radiator pulled. Took off some excess engine weight by unbolting brackets and such. All thats left is pulling some bolts and linkage and the engine will be a gonner!!
[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

Because I have to make room....For this BABAY!!
1990 Chevy 350 TBI

GM 14 Bolt. Came with the standard stuff. Detroit locker, and 4.56's and big heavy drum brakes. So I swapped out the gears for a set of thick cut 5.13's and put in a rear disk brake conversion and a 1410 pinion yoke.
[IMG][/IMG]

Dana 60. Once again came with the standard stuff. Open carrier, 4.56's. 35 spline inners and 30 spline outers. So I upgraded a few things.

5.13's, ARB (bought in 2007) Chromoly 35 spline outers, nice shiny chrome 35 spine warn hubs, WFO High steer arms. 1410 pinion yoke. Photos dont do it justice. Its still in the works...

[IMG][/IMG]
My newly painted "dedenbar" knuckles. looks legit enough

If your actually sand blasting that blue tape isnt going to do anything for you. Duct tape will help, or you can use a different media like walnut hulls and not worry about any of the surfaces, just remove the bearings and seals.

Good to see you getting it going again!

The tape actually held up pretty nicely. The paint the military uses, HOLY SHIT!! The crap is as thick as bondo and is like super glue! It took forever to get the crap off

Of course sand got inside the wheel bearing portion of the hub but the bearings had all ready been removed earlier. I soaked the wheel hubs and spindles, along with the lower kingpin caps in the solvent tank yesterday and everything cleaned up nicely.

Replaced the bearing races and waiting til monday to put a coat of paint on everything.

Thanks for subscribing!

I hope it will be a good one! I plan on taking a shit load of photo's for you guys

Well I will be putting the motor up for sale on craigslist and on here, but its not a 345, its a 304. Ran when stored and then started right up when I loaded it up on the trailer. Just needs some carb. work on it.

I do however have a complete 345 in my dads back yard, your more than welcome to

Going to be asking $100 a piece. Thats a STEAL!

Also, putting in 1 tons means I wont be running the dana 44's anymore. And you know what that means... They are for sale also. Asking $1500 obo. Dana 44's with 4.88's Detroit rear and Powerlock front. High steer, castered and all ready setup for SOA!! What a DEAL!

Not sad, it needed a face lift. I drove the hell out of it for several years. I then could afford other newer vehicles that were better on gas and repairs. Then it became a wheeling rig and I could actually use and not have to worry about it breaking down on the highway, which it often did.

Like all old vehicles, it needed more new parts that one couldnt find at Napa. I figured an upgrade for what I needed the scout to do was in order.

Day 3:

Took out the 304 and the front 44.

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

Day 4:

Pulled the tranny and rear 44. Removed steering box and began stripping the frame of brake and fuel lines.

[IMG][/IMG]
[IMG][/IMG]

Anybody wanna purchase a TF 727 with a round 6 bolt tail shaft housing?
[IMG][/IMG]

Nice shiny Klune V sitting under there!

[IMG][/IMG]

A little carnage from the rubicon, found it in the back of the scout

Not much done over the weekend. Spent Sunday with the wife and got some OT on Monday. So I only had Tuesday to get some work done.

Wired brush the frame a lil more.

Scouttank help me put one knuckle on the D60 and that's about it. The other side is awaiting a wire brush and a couple coats of paint.
Looking purrty

Cool project. Only question I have is with such an open work space like that do you have any issues with tweakers stealing your stuff?

Now that you mentioned it...

Scouttanks place is on a good side of town and the shops located out behind his house. Out of sight from the roadway.

The place where the axles and engine are located, also is on a good side of town and is down a secluded road.

But of course I wont give any body here the address because I just dont trust you bastards

You sure you wanna do that... no hardtop for you! Unless you spend more time on trimming that down too! Storage space gets limited, and I know you have 2 dogs...

Too late, floors already cut! The plan is to keep the hard top. Well see if scouttank can work his magic!! looking at his scout, I'm not really loosing all that much space anyway. I got a good idea for a cage/cargo space.

Well see what happens...
