Wheeling - Friday 11/17

Hooper and I are going to hit Reiter Trails Friday afternoon if anyone want to head out. Exact time not set in stone yet, but probably bail early from work.

I don't think Hooper has been wheeling in a few years, and we haven't wheeled together in probably 5 or 6 (when we were younger and singler... that was different).

Reiter Trails in out past Goldbar, WA. Off highway 2. "Old" Reiter Pit was the stomping grounds of many of use for Decades, many folks in the Seattle area of the PNW learned to wheel there.

Old Reiter was shut down about 4 years back. Over use, abuse, green agenda and not a "legal" riding area. "New" Reiter it a little further up the road and has been in the planning and slow building stage for the last couple years. When "complete" it will have over double or maybe triple the "trail" as old Reiter, but a lot less mileage. Old Reiter was spreed out quite a bit with 5-10 minute logging road drives between "trails" or even obstacle. New Reiter is man-made, and almost solid obstacle. Its got a ways to go, but what it there will challenge and there is much more to come (I know the guys designing/building the system to the best they can, and they are not taking it lightly).

This is not a trail system for stock rig. You WILL get body/rocker/frame damage. You need good tires, over-stock suspension, lockers are a definite plus, Winch and recovery points and spare parts/shafts. And the knowledge of how to use the above. If your confident in your equipment you can drive there and back, my junk is trail junk to it gets trailered and beat accordingly.

If your at all interested. Post up so we can include you in any planning. The exact details will not be openly posted as everything is subject to last minute changes or cancellations.

I'm also planning on trying to pull together a trip the the Naches Area (between Chinook Pass and Yakima) hopefully this month or early November.

Ha, ha. Never even noticed the typo.

Trip was a no-go. Turns out Reiters "Winter" hours are closed on Fridays. Good thing to as I ended up working 10+ hours on Friday, no way I could have gotten off early. We're going to try again mid November when patty gets back from Asia.

Sounds like that could also be when the new G11 trail is finished and fully approved.

Not that I have been paying attention

This has got to be a sign of the Apocalypse. I've got funds in hand to de-mothball my Scout as well. Just need to find an exhaust guy.

The gates open at 9:00am. From what Rustoleumwhite tells me...we are meeting at the McDonald's around 8:30am.

Looking forward to it and hope we have a dry day.

DO IT. Then the apocalypse with really be coming.

Exhaust is easy, couple bends and 'turbo' mufflers from the auto parts store, and a little strap steel to take them up. short and simple. Or if worse comes to worse, a really good bailing wire job (not that I have ever done that).

You can always build a 'proper' one in the future!!

HOS and I have plans (well, intention) to hit Naches a couple times this year, but for the September date I just heard about. Get your junk together and come on up!

We all know that would never happen.

More then just exhaust. It occurred to me the other day, it needs to be running before it goes to the exhaust shop, which isn't too far off either, just clean up the wiring from the engine swap and finish the install on the electric fan and switches, gauge set and we're cracking. Oh, and to even start I have to clean the garage. I've got 4 days off hoping to get started......tomorrow.

Bailing wire work fine for a LONG time.... till it falls off on the trail. Beauty part is you already have the bailing wire there to fix it!!!

not that I've ever done this before.......
