'72 IH t'all D44 info...

Came across a '72 IH t'all D44 for dirt cheap, actually the whole truck... I'm lookng for axles for my CJ5. found some info in the search, but need a little more.

If I have my info right:
Flat tops
Open Knuckle
Drum Brakes
6 bolt
5 lug
about 65" WMS-WMS

From the search, it sounds like it probably has the smaller shafts and U-joints.

I can probably pick up knuckles and out to go to Discs pretty cheap, but if not, anyone have the part #'s or info on the Chevy swap I heard mentioned from the search?

Also sounds like It's gonna be a positive caster.... Anyother down falls to this axle?

I'm getting the whole truck for pretty cheap so if anyone is looking for Engine ( I think a 392) Tranny (727???), divorced T-case (np205???) and anything else besides the axles, let me know.

You're above assumption is right. I never measured WMS and mine are dissambled.
More than likely you will have the smaller U-joints and my shafts neck down after the splines.
Don't have the part #'s, most use Ford rotors and Chebby calipers, you can use the internal locking hubs off the T'all.
I don't know about the caster issue either. Most of the downfalls are gonna be if you happen to break an axle shaft, replacements don't seem easy to get.
Check out that T-case, might be a NP202

Thanks Sammy.. I'll take a look at that T-case when I get the truck. All tires were flat, and it was a struggle to get under it enough to see if it even had a T-case

For more info read the post "Travelall axles"
Binderbound knows more about these axles than I do.

The only reason I know is because I was horribly dissapointed after I thought I had 'scored' a free 3/4 ton travelall.

About the only usable parts to regular wheelers are the flat tops and R&P. Throw the shafts as far away from you as possible, suck it up and buy some blanks from Warn and get them splined to match. Buy your Chevy small bearing spindle and F-150 hub/rotor, some new Warn internal hubs and go beat it.
