If its 3/4 ton and 4 speed...maybe. 1/2 ton and auto...no.
I towed a bunch with this truck. Trailer brakes are a must and even then stopping in a hurry is scary sometimes. The 304 pulled like crazy. Springs were a little soft for the HEAVY stuff but it still pulled it.
Sorry for the excess info. i'm guessing its a half ton, its 5 lug, and its automatic. not sure of the exact year. i was contemplating a disk brake swap, and maybe a cummins 5.9 diesel in it. not sure if i will get it or not. too many projects already.
those were known to qickly cause a very serious, incurable disease, called internationalitis. please give me an address so i can pick it up and dispose of it properly.
if you haven't already you may want to check out http://www.binderbulletin.org/ for a lot of good tech info, i'm sure if you poke around a bit you'll be able to find out what your about to get yourself into.
would the ford 5lug rotors and outer knucles bolt on the d44 front? or should i swap out the whole front axle? i've got some knucles and rotors off of a 79 f150.

The axle, if original, will be a closed knuckle style. Limited turning radius. You can swap chebbie discs onto it though, and only increase the track width about 1" on the front end.
It will involve making some oilite bushings for the chebbie 6-bolt spindles so the grease/oil in the knuckle doesn't leak out, but other than that, it's a pretty easy project.
will 15" rims fit on it and clear the drums that are on it now? its got 16.5 rims on it now. may end up swapping a later d44 into it. we'll see.
