Someone might have taken the VIN plate off. My '63 didn't have it on the firewall, but I eventually found it inside under a bunch of shit. My '64 had it, but it was pretty oxidized or something, so it was hard to read. Check all over inside, maybe someone took it off and put it somewhere else.

Door
For a '71 800B, VIN plate should be on the door frame, near the latch assembly, attached with screws. Should also have a VIN sticker on the tub-side of the door frame, approx opposite of the tag. Last digits of VIN should also be stamped into the frame, in front of the steering box on outside of frame.
This may apply to 1969/70 800A models also, I don't know when they switched from the under-the-hood location. Ronnie
