I like this thread already... V-8 powered Shop VAC!!!!! (sweet)
In all seriousness, when you get to swapping the motor in the Scout, I'd be interested in your notes. Motor mounts, radiator, rad mounts etc... the research begins............

Before we race, I gotta get in the back and start my blower.
I thought about doing that to a 2.5 S-10, but using an inverter and electric blower. (no NOX)

Well a small update on this swap. Dug out an old set of headers that I had lying around and installed them.
![]() Also went by my local race shop and picked up some weld in motor mounts and got them installed (used a spring bushing to hold it together to take a few measurements for installation) ![]() Also got started taking front clip off tonight to make this swap easier.

Got the boat anchor out tonight, a well needed weight reduction. That thing is a heavy pig.
![]() ![]() Now just need to address the rats nest of wires everywhere. I'll most likely order a painless harness in the next few days to make the engine bay look cleaner.

Time for a little update. I selected motor mounts made for IMCA race cars that have lower plate weled to the frame and I opted for a rubber bushing to go between lower and upper mounts.
![]() I wanted to go as low and as far back as I could without any interference from fire wall or front axle. So the measurements I will be using for my swap are as follows..... 21.5" from inside of front frame crossmember to the center of the motor mount bracket with the bracket raised up 1" off the frame. This put the front pulley over my straight steer brace and above it 2". ![]() It looks small in there compared to the old 304! ![]() This is what I came up with for a crossmember for the transmissson. I tried to use ms paint and draw it out for you to see how it will look. Will post up pics as soon as I finish it and pre fit. Hopefully this shows up. ![]() I hope to have all the welding done later today when it cools off a little bit and the motors final install done Mon. or Tues. as soon as my hydraulic throwout bearing for my 465 shows up.
